Rangers transfer roundup: Tawanda Maswanhise latest as double Ibrox exit update emerges

Rangers are continuing to back Danny Rohl in the transfer market this month.

Tuur Rommens was confirmed as a Rangers player on 14 January, after Tochi Chukwuani was announced just days earlier.

Andreas Skov Olsen looks set to become Rangers’ third signing of the window, and the door may be opened for exits too in the coming days.

Rangers will have to pay club record for Silas Andersen

Rangers interest in Silas Andersen will come at a heavy price.

In an interview with Fotbollskanalen, Hacken’s football director Martin Ericsson confirmed that it would take a club record fee to part ways with the 21-year-old.

He said: “There has been [interest], but nothing concrete at the moment, Andersen has a contract through 2028. If he is to be sold during the winter, it will be for something very special.”

When asked if it will take a record fee, Ericsson answered: “Yes... We’ll see, but everyone understands that we hold Silas in high regard.

He himself, if he’s going to leave, also wants to leave for something really good.”

He also stated that no bids have been received at the moment, despite growing interest.

Tawanda Maswanhise latest emerges amid Rangers interest

Motherwell star Tawanda Maswanhise has been linked to Rangers, with social media buzzing over a potential transfer.

However, an update from the Daily Record on 16 January claims that Fir Park sources have no knowledge over a potential transfer.

It states that no discussions have taken place with the Light Blues over a deal and the Steelmen hope that it stay that way.

Maswanhise has notched 10 goals and two assists in 19 Scottish Premiership matches so far this season, so he would be a top-quality addition.

Lyall Cameron’s Rangers exit is progressing, but no done deal yet

Lyall Cameron’s proposed loan from Rangers to Aberdeen is not completed yet.

A report from Sky Sports on 15 January claims that talks are progressing well, but a deal is yet to be agreed between the sides.

It states that the Gers want the 23-year-old to play more often and are open to sending him away on a temporary basis.

James Tavernier exit would stagger as ‘daft offer’ mooted

Rangers captain James Tavernier’s proposed move to Panathinaikos has been ruled out.

Rafael Benitez wants to sign the 34-year-old on a pre-contract agreement, but Daily Record journalist Scott McDermott would be “absolutely staggered” if he was allowed to leave.

Speaking on Hotline Live on 15 January, McDermott said: “I would be absolutely staggered if Rangers would let their captain go in January when they’re going for a title.

“Is he going to play every game between now and the end of the season? Maybe not. But is he going to have a pivotal role in that dressing room if Rangers are going to have success between now and May? Of course he is.

“Do I think Tavernier will stay at Rangers beyond the end of his contract in the summer? Probably not. There might well be interest in him this month, but I think it would take a daft offer for Rangers to accept it and let him go.”

His point is a good one, surely Tavernier’s leadership is far too important to lose in such a critical period for Rohl’s side.
