Rangers get Tawanda Maswanhise transfer clarity as sources speak out on Ibrox chatter
Motherwell forward Tawanda Maswanhise has been linked with a move to Rangers, but all is not what it seems.
Danny Rohl is desperate to sign a striker this month, and Maswanhise’s has started to crop up in Rangers circles recently.
With Tochi Chukwuani and Tuur Rommens signed by Rangers, Rohl looks to be shifting his transfer focus back to the top of the pitch.
Andreas Skov Olsen is closing in on a move to Ibrox, whilst Damir Redzic is expected to announce his plans imminently after also being linked with the Gers.

Sources speak out on Rangers and Tawanda Maswanhise speculation
As in any transfer window, it doesn’t take long for a transfer rumour to catch fire among a fanbase.
This is what’s happened with Rangers and Maswanhise, as Gers social media has been buzzing over the possibility of the Motherwell star being Ibrox-bound.
That excitement is understandable too, as the 23-year-old Zimbabwe international has been in superb form for Motherwell this season, scoring 14 goals in 26 total appearances – 10 of those in the league.
However, as per an update from the Daily Record on Friday, rumours linking Maswanhise with Rangers is news to those at Fir Park.
It’s stated that Motherwell sources have informed them that no discussions over a deal with the Gers have taken place, and that it’s hoped it will stay that way.

Motherwell’s next game is against Ross County in the Scottish Cup on Saturday, and judging from this update, we can expect to see him in the team for that clash.
Rangers should test Maswanhise waters now his name is out there
Not that Rangers chiefs will have needed a social media frenzy to inform them of who Maswanhise is, but now that his name has been connected to them, they may as well ask the question.
With Motherwell on for one of their best Premiership campaigns in a number of years, Jens Berthel Askou will be loathed to lose his star forward to Rangers, mid-season no less.
- Maswanhise signed for Motherwell from Leicester in the summer of 2024
- He’s scored 20 goals in 60 total appearances for the Well
- He’s also been capped 15 times for Zimbabwe
However, the talented young star has been lighting up Scottish football this term, and looks to be a real quality player both in the now, and for the future.
Therefore, it wouldn’t hurt Rangers to at least see if there’s a deal to be done there, as he could provide Rohl with a highly versatile attacker that may just be scratching the surface of his huge potential.
