Andreas Skov Olsen’s Rangers squad number revealed as club shop image emerges

Rangers could announce the signing of Andreas Skov Olsen very shortly.

He would become the Gers’ third acquisition of the window so far, following the announcement of Tuur Rommens and Tochi Chukwuani’s Ibrox arrival.

Danny Rohl wanted multiple signings in January, and credit to Andrew Cavenagh and Co., that’s what he’s getting.

Rangers are said to be in “love” with Skov Olsen and the deal that they have been able to strike with Wolfsburg, as the winger is expected to come to the Bears on a loan-to-buy deal.

It won’t be long before Skov Olsen‘s squad number is officially announced.

Andreas Skov Olsen to don No 7 for Rangers

Rangers have tracked Skov Olsen for numerous years and missed out on signing the Dane in 2024, when he made the switch from Club Brugge to Germany.

However, the Bears have played the waiting game, and look finally set to sign their long-admired man in terms that suit them best.

The 26-year-old has been unable to gain valuable game time in the Bundesliga this season, and will be relishing the opportunity to get on the pitch in a Rangers shirt.

A Gers fan on X seems to have been passing by Rangers’ club shop when they spotted a key detail regarding Skov Olsen’s shirt number.

It emerges that the forward will wear the number seven at Ibrox, with “Skov Olsen” set to appear on the back of his shirt.

The attacker will fall under the same bracket as the likes of Davie Cooper and Neil McCann in wearing the number seven.

Rangers to sanction an exit upon Skov Olsen’s arrival

As highlighted by Sofascore, Skov Olsen does have impressive stats despite a lack of playing time for Wolfsburg, averaging 1.3 key passes per game and a 73 per cent long ball accuracy.

But the Bears expect the winger to regain goal-scoring form, as Rohl will most likely be forced to make more space within his squad.

Skov Olsen’s impending arrival means that the Gers have Djeidi Gassama, Oliver Antman, and Kieran Dowell, who can all play wide right.

Rohl wants to keep Gassama, while Antman has recovered from his injury setback, leaving Dowell the odd one out.

A permanent sale could be sanctioned for the former Norwich City man, with a loan exit also possible to balance the books.
