Sunderland transfer U-turn as stance on Rangers target Romaine Mundle revealed
There is growing excitement at Ibrox that Rangers can win the Scottish Premiership title, and their impressive transfer business is only adding to the positivity.
Rangers completed the £4million signing of Tochi Chukwuani from Sturm Graz on Sunday, and since then, Danny Rohl and the recruitment team have been working hard to finalise other additions.
Andreas Skov Olsen is undergoing a medical ahead of his move to the Light Blues, becoming Rohl’s marquee January signing, while Tuur Rommens is closing in on a switch to Rangers after completing a successful medical.
Chukwuani, Skov Olsen and Rommen all plug gaps in the squad, but the German boss is still on the lookout for more attacking reinforcements.

Sunderland want to keep Romaine Mundle
Rangers showed an interest in signing Romaine Mundle on loan last week, and it appeared the Black Cats were willing to sanction his exit.
The Gers also wanted to sign Mundle’s teammate, Dan Neil, as the Scottish giants attempted to pull off a sensational double deal.

🤔 Both clubs are thought to be considering moves for Mundle after making known their interest in the winger.

But in a dramatic turn of events, Sunderland now “want to keep” Mundle, according to Sky Sports reporter Keith Downie, despite Feyenoord showing admiration towards the 22-year-old.
Meanwhile, FC Koln have joined the list of clubs interested in Rangers target Neil, who sees his contract at the Stadium of Light expire in the summer.
Mundle has only made eight substitute appearances for Regis Le Bris in the Premier League this term, following a long-term injury, while promotion-winning captain Neil has played just 13 minutes in the top-flight.

What Regis Le Bris said about Mundle’s future
Sunderland’s change in stance on Mundle is arguably down to him impressing in the FA Cup win against Everton on Saturday.
Nonetheless, the Englishman wants regular game time, something that he isn’t guaranteed with the Black Cats but would have been under Rohl.
When speaking about the player’s situation last week, Le Bris opened the door to Mundle’s exit, and that piqued supporters’ interest.
“The conversation is open for every player who lacks minutes. That’s always the case,” the Frenchman said.
“The most important thing is the club project – this is the first idea. Then, after that, it depends on the situation.
“If we think that over the second half of the season, the player won’t play a lot, then it means you can perhaps find a solution. But you have to find another club with a good project as well.”
Mundle’s potential exit from the North East probably hinges on Sunderland signing another winger, but either way, he would have been a fine addition to Rohl’s squad.
