Djeidi Gassama reacts as Rangers transfer now confirmed

Djeidi Gassama has been linked with a Rangers exit recently.

Gassama only signed for Rangers in the summer, but La Liga and MLS clubs have been linked with a move for the 22-year-old.

Rangers don’t want to sell Gassama, but if the right offer came along then they would have a decision to make.

However, his latest actions on social media suggest that he is set to stay at Ibrox, at least in the immediate future, and not move elsewhere in the winter window.

What did Gassama do as Rangers announce Tuur Rommens transfer?

Rangers have finally confirmed the signing of Tuur Rommens from Belgian outfit Westerlo, their second transfer after midfielder Tochi Chukwuani.

The club took to Instagram on 14 January, saying: “We can today announce the signing of Tuur Rommens from Westerlo on an initial three-and-a-half-year deal, subject to international clearance and the obtainment of a work permit.”

Gassama was the first Gers star to like the post, and goalkeeper Mason Munn has also liked it.

Why is Gassama likely to stay at Rangers?

If he was set to depart Govan, why would Gassama like the post?

He could have simply ignored it, and got on with his day, but he reacted to the announcement.

It seems like he is excited to play with Rommens, and that the Gers have completed the deal to sign the Belgian defender.

Given that the Light Blues want to keep him around, he may have accepted that a move is not on the cards this month, and he will have to remain patient to get what he wants.

It could be that the new additions and the fact that Danny Rohl’s side are firmly in the title race have convinced him that his future remains in G51, but only time will tell.

The ex-Sheffield Wednesday winger started his Gers career in electric form, but has gone off the boil since, and he been in and out of the side.

He may decide to seek pastures new next summer, but right now, he will surely remain at Auchenhowie, as Rohl builds a side that are contenders for domestic glory.
