Rangers to complete Tuur Rommens transfer as early Ibrox doubts emerge already

Rangers are in line to complete their second signing of the January transfer window despite doubts emerging over Tuur Rommens.

Tochi Chukwuani joined Rangers from Austrian outfit Sturm Graz on Sunday for a reported £4million, signing a deal that will last until June 2029.

Chukwuani will likely be available as Danny Rohl’s side face Annan Athletic in the Scottish Cup on Friday evening.

The Gers will hope to have a deal for Rommens over the line by that point as well, and there has been an update on the progress of his medical.

Tuur Rommens’ medical at Rangers going smoothly

It was reported on Sunday that Rommens was undergoing his medical at Rangers ahead of a £2.6m move from Belgian side Westerlo.

The left-back has agreed a three-and-a-half-year deal with the Gers that will keep him at Ibrox until 2029.

Some Rangers fans were getting worried that the transfer may have broken down, given there has been no official announcement for Rommens as of yet.

However, Andy Newport confirmed that everything is going according to plan and that the move will be completed at some point on Tuesday.

The Belgian Under-21 international could be officially unveiled as a Rangers player within hours.

Rangers eye further deals in January window

Even after getting the Rommens deal over the line, Rangers are still expected to be very active in the transfer market.

Rohl’s side are only three points adrift of Hearts at the top of the Scottish Premiership, albeit having played a game more, so they are eager to strengthen further ahead of a big title push.

Rangers have now been linked with DAC Dunajska Streda winger Damir Redzic, as they look to improve their attacking output in the second half of the season.

However, they face a big battle to sign the Hungarian, with RB Salzburg, Olympiacos, and Copenhagen all also in the race.

Either way, it’s going to be a very busy few weeks before the 2 February deadline.
