Rangers to astonish Michael Stewart with Kieron Bowie transfer as advice sent
Michael Stewart has advised Hibernian striker Kieron Bowie to stay in the winter transfer window amid interest from Rangers and Celtic.
The 23-year-old has had a breakout season at Easter Road Stadium, scoring eight goals in 21 William Hill Premiership appearances.
Bowie is being monitored at Ibrox, with the Gers asking to be kept in the loop regarding the Scotland Under-21 international’s situation in January.
Danny Rohl is apparently being financially backed by Andrew Cavenagh, with Tochi Chukwuani already coming through the door, and it will be interesting to see whether a centre-forward will be signed before Deadline Day.
Hibernian will not sell Rangers target Kieron Bowie in January
Stewart would be “astonished” if Hibernian decided to sell Bowie in the coming weeks.
The former Scotland international acknowledges that a significant offer from Ibrox or Parkhead for the striker might give Hibs something to think about, but the forward has been told to stay put.
Bowie’s current contract at Easter Road runs until the summer of 2028, and the best thing for the young Scotsman could potentially be furthering his development in Edinburgh before looking at taking the next step in his career.
Speaking on the Scottish Football Social Club on 12 January, Stewart said, “I’d be astonished if Hibs sell in January. And of course, it comes back to if somebody reaches that number, it poses the question.”
The ex-midfielder added, “My advice to Bowie would be there’s no rush to get out that door. He’s starting to find a bit of form again, and I think the best thing he could do for his career would be to stay at Hibs for the next 18 months. Get to this stage next year and then realistically start talking about what he’s looking to do.”
Youssef Chermiti is starting to find his feet under Rohl, but fans in G51 would undoubtedly want to see reinforcements up front sooner rather than later.
Ibrox exit to open doors for Kieron Bowie transfer
Danilo has been transfer-listed at Ibrox, with the Brazilian star seemingly losing his importance under the German manager.
The 26-year-old striker looked to have a place in Rohl’s plans initially, but he’s struggled for game time at Rangers in recent matches.

If the Light Blues do end up selling Danilo, it may open the doors to make a move for Bowie and beat the competition for his signature.
The recruitment department in Govan have gone into action, and exciting times could possibly be ahead for supporters.
