Parfait Guiagon transfer development at Rangers ‘bizarre’ as Celtic news emerges
Charleroi forward Parfait Guiagon should be a target for Rangers in the winter transfer window.
The 24-year-old has received rave reviews in the Jupiler Pro League in recent seasons and seems ready for the next step in his career.
Guiagon has been linked with a move to Ibrox recently, with the Gers identifying plenty of targets to bolster their attack.
VfL Wolfsburg’s Andreas Skov Olsen is also wanted by Danny Rohl, with the Light Blues advancing in their talks for the 26-year-old Danish winger.
Rangers interest preceded by Celtic scout mission for Parfait Guiagon
Guiagon was one of the players being watched by Celtic last season, David Friel says.
The journalist had been told by one of his Belgian colleagues that the Hoops were monitoring a Charleroi game, with the 24-year-old left-winger on their radar.
Considering the Cote d’Ivoire international’s reputation in Belgium, it isn’t surprising to see him emerge as a potential signing at Ibrox.
Speaking on The Scottish Sun SPORT on 13 January, Friel said, “The Charleroi winger is bizarre because I remember last season, I’d been told by a Belgian colleague that Celtic had been watching a game with Charleroi, and we were actually trying to figure out who they could potentially be watching. And his name was mentioned.”
The journalist added, “Nothing came of it clearly, but he was mentioned as a young Ivory Coast winger with real potential. I think in Belgium, he was viewed as one of the ones who was maybe going to really step up and win a move somewhere. Again, I can understand why clubs like Rangers and Celtic should be looking at guys of that ilk.”
Sunderland’s Romaine Mundle is also on Rohl’s shortlist, and it will be interesting to see what deals the Glaswegian outfit will progress with.
Ibrox transfer rumours spell end for attacking duo
Kieran Dowell and Rabbi Matondo may have no place at Ibrox if deals for new wingers materialise in Govan
Rangers seem to have plans to heavily back Rohl in the coming weeks, which would mean that some players will fall further down the pecking order.

While Dowell and Matondo have been on the bench in recent matches, it makes no sense to keep them.
The Englishman and Wales international’s contracts expire at the end of the season, but it would arguably be better for the Light Blues to cut their losses on them immediately.
