Oscar Cortes’ Rangers exit surely confirmed after what five-time champions have done
Oscar Cortes is set to leave Rangers in the winter transfer window.
Rangers signed Cortes permanently in the summer, then sent him on loan to Sporting Gijon, where he was unable to break into the squad.
Cortes would not be allowed to join another European club, but a FIFA loophole could see him exit Rangers and join a team in the USA, South America and Scandinavia.
Now, another Ibrox departure looks to be on the cards for the 22-year-old after what a potential new club have went and done.

What have Oscar Cortes’ potential new club done?
Rangers are set to let Cortes join Huracan, the five-time Argentine champions on loan, with a buy option reported to be in the deal.
The Buenos Aires-based outfit have announced the Gers star in their squad for upcoming friendlies with Cerro Porteno and Cucuta Deportiva.
His name is on their official squad list, and he has travelled with the team, but it has been clarified that he is not their player yet.
Huracan said: “It’s worth clarifying that the forward Oscar Cortes is with the delegation.
“Once the paperwork with Scotland is fully completed, the player will be formally introduced.”
Where did it all go wrong for Cortes at Rangers?
If the Argentine club take up the option to purchase the Colombian winger, it will end his Govan misery once and for all.
Cortes has never been able to establish himself with the Light Blues, making just 21 appearances, with one goal and two assists, since joining in the 2023-2024 campaign.
The young attacker was plagued by injury when he initially signed from Lens on loan, missing 11 matches, and he has not recovered from that.
He was unable to work his way into Philippe Clement’s plans, and has not convinced Russell Martin or Danny Rohl that he is a genuine option.
The Gers did not cancel the obligation to buy him in the summer, despite his struggles, and it has come back to bite them.
They will probably take a significant loss on the Under-23 international, but a permanent exit is probably the best outcome for all parties.
Cortes will not become a regular starter for the Bears, that is evident, so they need to move him on, for themselves and for the player.
