Unseen Sunderland footage proves that Dan Neil is set to sign for Rangers
Dan Neil could be announced as a Rangers player in the next few days.
Danny Rohl is being backed by the 49ers at Ibrox, with the Gers closing in on a handful of new signings in January.
Tuur Rommens and Tochi Chukwuani are both expected to complete their moves to Rangers, despite slight delays regarding the latter.
However, Rangers have also been heavily linked with Sunderland’s Neil, and after what happened at the end of their FA Cup win against Everton, his future is clear.
Sunderland set to part ways with Neil
Rangers have not had much luck when buying from the Championship in the past, though the addition of Neil in particular would be a solid one.
The 24-year-old captained his boyhood club to promotion last season, but lost his place 9in the starting 11 due to the arrival of Granit Xhaka, which is more than understandable.
However, Neil wasnt even involved in Sunderland’s FA Cup clash with Everton on Saturday, despite being on the bench, further sparking rumours that a move to Ibrox could be on the cards.
After the game, when the Sunderland players went over to the travelling supporters to celebrate their win, Neil wasn’t involved, as seen in footage from the Hill Dickinson Stadium.
He stood isolated at the back with a sad expression on his face, before Wilson Isidor walked over to stand alongside him.
His absence and then his reaction speak volumes about the current circumstances surrounding his transfer.
Romaine Mundle’s future also becomes clearer
Romaine Mundle has also been linked with a move to Rangers, this time on loan.
However, the 22-year-old winger started and finished Sunderland’s clash with Everton, having shown plenty of signs of promise.
Mundle was always looking to get a shot on target, and his direct style of play caused issues for David Moyes’ defence.
Given the fact that he is just coming back from an injury and still able to cause a threat against Premier League oppsoition shows that the Black Cats may want him to stick around for the rest of the campaign.
