Rangers to complete first multi-million transfer of January before Aberdeen showdown

Rangers are looking to continue their sensational start to January as they travel to Aberdeen on Sunday afternoon.

Danny Rohl led the Bears to a 3-1 victory at Celtic to kickstart the month, with Youssef Chermiti springing into life as the transfer window opened.

That was followed up by Rangers beating Aberdeen 2-0 at Ibrox on Tuesday, with an unlikely Scottish Premiership title bid becoming more of a reality with each week.

Rangers travel to Pittodrie to face Aberdeen again on Sunday, and some early transfer news could see the away end absolutely jubilant.

Rangers to complete Tochi Chukwuani transfer on Sunday

Tochi Chukwuani is set to become the first signing of January at Ibrox.

Rangers have agreed a £4.3million fee with Sturm Graz for Chukwuani, with add-ons and a sell-on clause included ahead of his medical on Saturday.

The Sunday Mail has reported in its print edition on 11 January that Chukwuani will be confirmed by Rangers ahead of the game at Aberdeen.

Tuur Rommens is another signing close to completion at Ibrox, but that could now be delayed until further into next week in Govan.

Can Tochi Chukwuani play vs Aberdeen?

Earlier in the week, it was said that Rangers wanted to fast-track the signing of Chukwuani to play against Aberdeen after Connor Barron‘s injury.

The Danish midfielder will have had to be registered ahead of time to feature at Pittodrie now, with the announcement possibly delayed.

Rohl will want Chukwuani available, but given he hasn’t been confirmed yet, it looks unlikely.

Chukwuani has been described as a “visionary” midfielder, and his ability to dictate the play from deep could help him settle in immediately.

With Barron usually taking that role, his added grit and steel on top of that could make him a guaranteed starter almost immediately.

Rangers are also ready to sell six players now, with this first deal of the month set to kickstart a constant stream of action through the corridors of Ibrox.
