Rangers in talks to sign Andreas Skov Olsen as truth behind squad absence emerges

Rangers are in talks to sign winger Andreas Skov Olsen, who was left out of Wolfsburg’s matchday squad against Bayern Munich on Sunday.

Danny Rohl’s side are flying on the pitch right now, with Rangers’ 2-0 win over Aberdeen keeping them within three points of leaders Hearts.

Plenty of transfer activity is expected at Ibrox before the winter window closes on 2 February, with another new name now emerging.

Rohl has already admitted he is eager for more Rangers signings and it may not be long before he gets his wish.

Andreas Skov Olsen ready for next chapter

Rangers confirmed the signing of Tochi Chukwuani ahead of the Aberdeen game, while Tuur Rommens is set to undergo a medical.

Rommens could be announced as the second signing of the month at Ibrox as early as Monday, all going to plan.

Now, according to Sky Sports reporter Florian Plettenberg, Rangers are also in talks with Wolfsburg to sign Skov Olsen.

The Denmark international was not part of Wolfsburg’s squad for the thumping 8-1 loss to Bayern Munich on Sunday.

Plettenberg says this was not injury related and that the right-winger is now ready for the next chapter in his career.

What type of player is Skov Olsen?

Skov Olsen is predominantly a right-winger, but he is also able to play on the left if required.

The Dane has made just eight Bundesliga appearances this season, half of those as a substitute.

He has only been at Wolfsburg for a year but is already seemingly eager to move on, having not lived up to the form showed at Club Brugge.

Skov Olsen has also previously represented Bologna and Nordsjaelland in his homeland.

Given he is under contract for another three years, and that he cost a reported £12million just a year ago, he will not come cheap.

On the face of it, though, this is exactly the type of signing Rangers should be going for this month.

Andrew Cavenagh, Paraag Marathe and Co. are clearly not messing about, and this may well be the marquee signing Gers fans have been waiting for.
