Rangers ready to sell six players as double transfer now close at Ibrox

Rangers have exploded to life in the January transfer window, with the Ibrox doors expected to be very busy over the next three weeks.

Danny Rohl was guaranteed to sign a new left-back and midfielder, but he has several moves on the go to strengthen even further already.

Tuur Rommens and Tochi Chukwuani are expected to sign ahead of Aberdeen on Sunday, in two moves that will fill those priority positions already at Ibrox.

With Rangers also approaching Sunderland duo Dan Neil and Romaine Mundle, all eyes are on a squad possibly starting to overflow.

Rangers ready to green light Ibrox exodus

Rangers endured a terrible summer transfer window, and that could dictate who leaves this month.

With Rommens, Chukwuani, Neil and Mundle all possibly incoming, Kieran Bowie of Hibernian is another possible signing to take it to five.

Whilst Andrew Cavenagh and the 49ers are backing Rohl financially, exits will need to happen.

According to the Scottish Daily Mail on Saturday in its print edition, Rangers could agree as many as six exits before the 2 February deadline.

It is said that this would add much-needed funds for Rohl to refresh his squad with new talent.

Who could leave Rangers?

Oscar Cortes is on the way out again, with Rangers agreeing a deal with Huracan in Argentina, ending his initial spell at Sporting Gijón.

That doesn’t change the current squad, given he hasn’t been available all season.

Kieran Dowell is wanted by Hull City in the Championship, where Joe Rothwell could also end up, with several clubs interested in his services already.

Rangers’ current injury list could change several plans, though.

With Connor Barron out until March at least, Rangers have fast-tracked a deal for Chukwuani, with several transfers set to cover the squad.

Despite that, until the incomings are sorted and announced, Rohl may want to keep this squad together for now, regardless of what the future holds.

With a second clash against Aberdeen within days on Sunday, it will be interesting to see what the travelling party looks like.
