Rangers face Kieron Bowie heartache as new transfer twist emerges

Rangers’ attempts to sign Kieron Bowie could be scuppered after the latest developments.

Rangers have asked Bowie’s representatives to notify them of any interest in his services, as Danny Rohl looks to bolster his forward line, with Hibs seeking around £6.5million.

Bowie is understood be keen on a Rangers move, but the Govan club may be disappointed after a new contender for his signature emerged.

A report from Darren Witcoop on 9 January claimed that the Gers want Bowie, but they now face significant competition for the Hibernian star.

Who has joined Rangers in Kieron Bowie chase?

Rangers wanted to sign Bowie in the summer, and it may be another case of waiting too late to make their move.

Premier League club Wolves are exploring a move for the 23-year-old Scottish international, according to Witcoop, in a new twist, that could leave the Bears heartbroken in their chase.

Championship clubs from England also hold an interest in the forward, who has scored eight goal this season.

Can Rangers compete with Wolves for Bowie signature?

The likely answer is no, at least when it comes to the money that is involved.

England’s top-flight has significantly more money than Scottish football, so the wages on offer will surely convince Bowie to make that move instead.

The only hope that the Gers may have is that Bowie does not want to play in the second-tier next season, as the Old Gold look like they will be relegated from the top tier at the end of the current campaign.

He may want to stay in his home nation, as that may be better for his chance of making Steve Clarke’s squad for the World Cup in the summer.

However, it seems like a long shot, given the finances that he could earn by moving to the Molineux club, which will be a lot more than he could dream of with the Light Blues.
