Danny Rohl ‘not happy’ amid imminent Rangers transfer activity

Rangers’ fast-paced January transfer business could be a reflection of Danny Rohl’s feelings towards his squad.

Tuur Rommens and Tochi Chukwuani are both close to joining Rangers, as Rohl hinted that the pair could be available for the Bears’ clash against Aberdeen on Sunday.

Rangers could sell multiple stars in the transfer window, with some suggesting that it would be the only way for the Gers to free up funds for new additions.

However, given the 49ers‘ ambition already seen in the window, it’s clear that money isn’t an issue, with Rohl‘s view on his players now coming into the conversation.

Charlie Mulgrew feels Danny Rohl isn’t happy across the board at Rangers

Rangers have staged an incredible comeback in the Scottish Premiership since Rohl’s arrival, despite the shocking start to the season under Russell Martin.

That being said, the German head coach will still feel the need for recruits this month to try and capitalise on an opportunity to win the league.

On the Go Radio Football Podcast, former Scotland defender Charlie Mulgrew shared his take on where Rohl stands with his current batch of players.

The Scot highlighted one man in particular whom he thinks the Rangers boss is unhappy with.

Mulgrew said: “Danny Rohl is doing a great job. But I get the feeling he’s not happy with the squad.

“The £3million transfer of Rommens tells me he doesn’t fancy [Jayden] Meghoma, and Chukwuani is interesting because the centre of the pitch gets vacated a lot for Rangers.”

While it’s true that Rommens’ impending arrival will cause problems for Jayden Meghoma, Mulgrew also raises a good point about Rangers’ midfield.

Tochi Chukwuani offers Rohl a different midfield entity; here’s why

Connor Barron’s latest injury blow now leaves Rangers with a gaping midfield hole, as Nicolas Raskin will keep his place.

The only other man apart from Chukwuani who can replace Barron is Mohamed Diomande, but some may argue he and Raskin are too like-for-like.

Chukwuani is a hard-tackler and doesn’t shy away from the ugly side of the game, as he will instantly give Rohl a boost of physicality in the centre of the park.

The young Dane will have to adapt quickly, but his playstyle complements Scottish football, with his and Rommens’ arrivals potentially the first of many to follow for Rohl.
