Rangers trigger welcome transfer windfall as fresh details emerge on Tochi Chukwuani deal
Tochi Chukwuani could be announced as a Rangers player on Friday.
Chukwuani is on the verge of joining Rangers in a £4million move from Austrian side Sturm Graz.
Rohl was desperate to sign a midfielder in the January transfer window, and Chukwuani‘s imminent arrival has now become very important.
Connor Barron suffered a knee injury that could leave him sidelined until March, and Rangers have now fast-tracked the deal for the 22-year-old midfielder.
However, once the move is officially announced, Chukwuani’s former club Lyngby are set to receive a fee due to a sale clause they had in his contract before he left them for Sturm Graz in June 2024.
Danish side Lyngby set to earn fee from Tochi Chukwuani’s move to Rangers
Chukwuani has made 62 appearances for Sturm Graz since his arrival, scoring four goals in that time.
Danish Media outlet Tipsbladet reported on Friday that Lyngby could get between 10 and 20 per cent of the transfer fee (£400,000 – £800,000).
The Danish side are said to be rubbing their hands at the prospect of what is a substantial windfall for a club of their stature.
Before leaving the Danish outfit for Sturm Graz, Chukwuani signed a new contract with the club as a token of appreciation for the faith they placed in him.
He was then immediately sold to the Austrian side, but the contract he had with Lyngby had a resale clause that would see them financially benefit from a future transfer.

The Danish U21 international spent two years in Denmark and helped them narrowly avoid relegation from the Superligaen in back-to-back seasons.
Now playing in the second tier, the fee they receive for Chukwuani will hugely benefit them in their bid to secure an immediate return to the top flight.
Rangers addressing priorities swiftly in winter transfer window
Rangers beat Aberdeen 2-0 at Ibrox last time out in the Scottish Premiership, and the sides will meet again at Pittodrie on Sunday.
Rohl hopes to have Chukwuani available for the match, but they face a race against the clock to confirm the move.
Left-back Tuur Rommens also looks set to join Rangers, with a fee of £3m being agreed with Belgian side Westerlo.
Andrew Cavenagh oversaw a disastrous summer transfer window, with the Bears starting the campaign in terrible fashion under Russell Martin.
It was clear that a left-back and a midfielder were the priorities in January, and Rohl looks to have secured additions for both positions in less than two weeks since the market has opened.
Cavenagh has owned up to mistakes he has made in the past and has turned over a new leaf as the Bears aim to mount a title charge in the second half of the season.
Although it may be too early to say, Rangers look to be turning a corner under his stewardship.
