Rangers star Emmanuel Fernandez reacts as big-money transfer struck

Emmanuel Fernandez has been in the headlines for his impressive performances under Danny Rohl.

Fernandez joined Rangers for £3.5million from League One side Peterborough United and has become a mainstay in the defence.

After struggling at the start of the season, Fernandez has been phenomenal in recent weeks and he has become a huge threat from attacking set-pieces.

The 24-year-old is excelling at Ibrox and has now reacted to some transfer news away from Glasgow.

Emmanuel Fernandez reacts to Antoine Semenyo’s move to Man City

Man City have completed the signing of Bournemouth forward Antoine Semenyo after meeting his £65m release clause on Friday.

They beat out the likes of Man United, Liverpool, Spurs and Chelsea to his signature, and his contract will run until 2031.

Fernandez liked Man City’s Instagram post, which announced Semenyo’s move on Friday morning.

Semenyo has had a remarkable rise to the top, coming through Bristol City’s academy, going on loan to Newport County and Sunderland, before earning a move to Bournemouth in January 2023.

Fernandez is also a seasoned journeyman who has had plenty of experience in the lower leagues of English football and could be striving for a big move in the future.

Could Fernandez be eyed by other teams?

Fernandez has scored five goals in all competitions this season, which is incredibly impressive for a young centre-back.

While he won’t be leaving Govan in the January transfer window, he could attract interest from European clubs at the end of the campaign.

Semenyo has scored 10 Premier League goals already this season, and not only is he a very different player from Fernandez, but the Rangers ace still has a long way to go before he receives the same level of recognition.

Rangers have excelled from set-pieces since coach Scott Fry arrived in November, and the English defender has been the biggest beneficiary.

With dead-ball situations becoming increasingly important in the Premier League, Fernandez’s goalscoring streak could make him a target for other teams.

Having played for Barnet and Peterborough, Fernandez has aspirations that are similar to Semenyo’s, and Rangers may have to worry about his future in the summer.
