Aberdeen vs Rangers postponement latest as Met Office issue new warning
Rangers’ trip to Aberdeen on Sunday afternoon looks set to be played under miserable conditions.
It will be the second meeting between the two sides in the space of six days, with Rangers beating Aberdeen 2-0 at Ibrox on Tuesday.
Rangers and Aberdeen played under a Met Office weather warning that evening, as goals from Emmanuel Fernandez and Nicolas Raskin made it four wins on the bounce for Danny Rohl‘s side.
Dujon Sterling, Connor Barron and Mikey Moore are injury doubts heading into Sunday’s clash, but Rohl looks set to be handed a major boost to his matchday squad at Pittodrie.
Tuur Rommens and Tochi Chukwuani are expected to travel with Rangers up to Aberdeen, as the Gers make their first big transfer breakthroughs of the winter window.
Aberdeen set for miserable wintery conditions this weekend
With Storm Goretti currently battering the UK, most games of football taking place this weekend won’t be spared from the elements.
That’s no different in Aberdeen either, with the Met Office putting a yellow warning for snow and ice across practically the whole of Scotland, and also covering the vast majority of northern England all the way down towards the Midlands.

Therefore, Rangers and Aberdeen will be battling more than just one another on the Pittodrie pitch this Sunday, as the rain, wind and potentially snow all look ready to play a major part in the match.
However, the fixture doesn’t appear to be in any major risk of postponement at this stage.
Conditions are far from ideal, but the warning has not yet been upgraded to amber or indeed red. Supporters are advised to check regularly for updates, though.
What is Rangers’ recent record at Pittodrie?
Aberdeen are having a disappointing season so far as they sit eighth in the Premiership table with 25 points to their name, leading to the sacking of Jimmy Thelin last week.
However, whilst Rangers have beaten the Dons in their last five meetings at Ibrox in all competitions, they haven’t enjoyed the same level of success at Pittodrie.
- Aberdeen have taken 13 of their 25 points at Pittodrie this season
- They’ve won three, drawn four and lost three at home, with a goal difference of plus two
- The Dons have lost five of their last six in all competitions
In fact, the Gers haven’t won on Aberdeen soil since 20 December 2022, when Scott Arfield scored two added time goals at the end of the match to seal a highly dramatic 3-2 comeback win for Michael Beale’s side.
A repeat of those scenes in the conditions that look set to greet the two sides on Sunday would make for a memorable day for any Rangers fan travelling up to Pittodrie.
