Tochi Chukwuani to be fast-tracked as Rangers star now ruled out until March in crushing news

Danny Rohl will have to use Tochi Chukwuani a lot sooner than he may have expected at Rangers.

Chukwuani is on the verge of joining Rangers ahead of a £4million move from Austrian side Sturm Graz.

The Dane will join Tuur Rommens, who is also expected to complete a move to the Bears after a deal was agreed with Belgian Pro League outfit, KVC Westerlo.

Rohl wanted to get a midfielder in the January transfer window, but the importance of Chukwuani‘s arrival has now only been heightened.

Connor Barron out for at least two months in new update

Rangers beat Aberdeen 2-0 at Ibrox last time out in the Scottish Premiership, but Connor Barron found himself hobbling off the field before full-time.

The Scot had a magnificent game, providing two assists for both of Rangers’ goals, and his injury scare will have concerned many.

There have already been suggestions that Chukwuani could replace Barron, and that now looks to be a reality.

According to Keith Jackson for the Daily Record on Thursday, Rangers will now be without Barron for the foreseeable future, with the midfielder ruled out until March at the least due to a knee injury.

Jackson has suggested that Chukwuani will be fast-tracked into Rohl’s side as a result, with a first start potentially coming in the return fixture against Aberdeen on Sunday.

The Bears have also lost Dujon Sterling to a serious hamstring issue, with the injury-riddled defender set for another spell on the sidelines.

It goes without saying, but Chukwuani is going to have to hit the ground running.

Fortunately for the 22-year-old, Barron’s injury is his gain, as Rohl may be left with no choice but to play the ball-winning midfielder.

As highlighted by Sofascore, Chukwuani has better averages for a typical defensive midfielder, but of course, there are qualities that Rangers will miss in Barron’s absence.

Chukwuani will need to adapt fast, and throwing him in at the deep end is the only way to learn.

Rangers supporters may not need to worry about their hopes of winning the title fading away just yet – they may have signed the best possible replacement.
