Neil McCann and Billy Dodds to offer Rangers pair a lifeline in instant transfer win
Rangers could be about to benefit from Neil McCann and Billy Dodds’ appointments at Kilmarnock.
McCann and Dodds, who were part of Barry Ferguson’s caretaker coaching staff at Ibrox last season, have taken over as manager and assistant manager at Kilmarnock respectively.
Dodds was recently bigging up Jayden Meghoma for Rangers while working as a pundit, but it is a different Gers player he could soon be linking up with.
And in the view of player-turned-pundit Derek Ferguson, the pair could use their Rangers links to their advantage – and indeed the Gers’ advantage.
Kilmarnock told to push through ‘no-brainer’ Rangers double deal
Tuur Rommens is one of many to have been linked with a move to Rangers in the winter window, but outgoings are expected as well.
There are two players in particular Rangers could do with getting off their books, albeit on a temporary basis.
Lyall Cameron and Findlay Curtis are struggling for Rangers minutes, with Danny Rohl seemingly not fancying the pair.
Ferguson believes the appointment of McCann and Dodds at Kilmarnock could now lead to the duo being asked to move to Rugby Park.
As highlighted by the Sofascore graphic below, the pair have made just nine starts between them in all competitions this season.
“You know something, they’ll know these players inside out and they need an injection of quality down at Kilmarnock,” Ferguson exclusively told Ibrox News.

“It’s an absolute no-brainer for me. They’re two young guys, and the other thing is, they play on that horrible pitch that the older players don’t want to entertain.
“These two are more accustomed to astro turf so would be open to it. My advice to them would be go to Killie, play some football and keep them in the division.”
Lyall Cameron and Findlay Curtis not alone in needing Rangers exit
Cameron and Curtis hopefully have long-term futures at Ibrox, but the same is not true of certain other players.
Joe Rothwell is destined for a permanent Rangers exit, for example, having quite simply failed to get going since joining in the summer.
| Player | Appearances | Minutes played |
| Cameron | 9 | 419 |
| Curtis | 16 | 410 |
Danilo is another Rangers could do with getting rid of due to his lack of impact and his reportedly high wages.
It makes for an intriguing few weeks or so until the winter window closes on 3 February, with Rangers having to get the balance right between incoming and outgoing activity.
It can surely be agreed, though, that getting Cameron and Curtis somewhere they will play regularly makes more sense than letting them rot away on the bench.
