Rangers transfer guarantee revealed as two signings now banked at Ibrox

Danny Rohl is awaiting his first transfer breakthrough as Rangers manager.

Andrew Cavenagh and the 49ers are expected to back Rohl in the window this month, as Rangers look to keep the title race alive heading towards the final months of the season.

Rangers beat Aberdeen 2-0 on Tuesday, extending their winning run to four games and proving that Rohl can get results with what he’s already working with at Ibrox.

However, Rangers have been told they still need to improve, and Rohl certainly won’t be resting on his laurels, as the upturn in form has brought the Gers right back into title contention.

Rangers handed two transfer guarantees

If Rangers are to leapfrog Hearts and ultimately claim their first Scottish Premiership title since 2020-21, then reinforcements will be required over the next few weeks.

It’s been a slow start to the winter window, with Rohl understood to want new signings through the door ASAP to capitalise on the momentum that’s been building over the last few matches.

Thankfully, according to Scottish Sun journalist David Friel via X, he’s assured Gers supporters that they will see at least two key additions made.

“Guarantee you, Danny Rohl (signs a) centre midfielder. Guarantee you he’ll sign a left-back. Who that will be, we will see,” Friel said.

Left-back should be Rangers’ first transfer priority

Whilst both central midfield and left-back are positions of need for Rangers, Rohl should view the more pressing one as being the latter.

In midfield, he can call upon the likes of Joe Rothwell, Connor Barron, Mohamed Diomande, Thelo Aasgaard, Lyall Cameron, Nicolas Raskin and Bailey Rice – when he returns from injury – respectively.

However, at left-back, he isn’t afforded the same level of luxury when it comes to depth, with 19-year-old Brentford loanee Jayden Meghoma the only natural option in that position.

Meghoma has endured a mixed bag of performances for Rangers this season, but should he get injured or suspended, then Rohl would likely have to call upon Max Aarons to fill in there. He hasn’t started a game since 21 December in Rangers’ 2-1 defeat to Hearts.

Therefore, whilst bolstering in the middle of the park would be a welcome sight this month, Rangers should beef up their left-back options as a matter of urgency.
