Rangers preference revealed in Tuur Rommens and James Penrice update

Rangers are likely to sign Westerlo left-back Tuur Rommens in the winter transfer window.

AEK Athens defender James Penrice is another target at Ibrox, as the Gers look to strengthen their backline in January.

Westerlo manager Issame Charai has revealed that no offer has been made for Rommens yet, but the Belgium Under-21 international’s situation will be worth watching closely.

The 22-year-old has emerged as a preferred candidate for the Glaswegian outfit as they like one particular aspect about him.

Tuur Rommens wanted by Rangers due to his age

Rommen’s age is a factor in the Gers’ approach for him, according to The Rangers Review.

The news outlet reports on 7 January that while Penrice, 27, is also under consideration at Ibrox, the Belgian left-back is the leading contender to bolster the Gers’ defence.

It will be interesting to see who the Light Blues end up signing, with Danny Rohl certainly looking to complete deals sooner rather than later.

A backup for Jayden Meghoma is wanted at Ibrox, with the Brentford loanee the only natural option in his position at the Glaswegian outfit.

Ibrox hierarchy add new names to transfer shortlist

Sturm Graz midfielder Tochi Chukwuani is a target at Ibrox, with Hacken’s Silas Andersen also wanted to bolster the engine room.

Rangers seem to be identifying more players to strengthen their squad, but they don’t seem to actually be making a move for any of them.

Fans in G51 wanted Andrew Cavenagh and 49ers Enterprises to be proactive in January, but they’ve been left disappointed so far.

The Glaswegian outfit could potentially put themselves in the driving seat in the William Hill Premiership with the right signings.
