Rangers forward says goodbye to teammates, he’s jetting out on Wednesday
Rangers loanee Oscar Cortes looks set to join Atletico Huracan after his loan move to Sporting Gijon collapsed.
Cortes was loaned out by Rangers this summer after it became clear that the forward was not going to be in Russell Martin’s plans.
The Colombian has clear quality, but his short stay with Sporting Gijon doesn’t seem to have benefited anyone after the latest updates.
With Cortes now looking likely to join Huracan, a new report suggests a deal is just hours away from completion.

There were high hopes for Cortes’ loan to work out, as the youngster had all the makings to become a top player at Ibrox one day.
However, after making barely any starts for the second-tier Spanish side, a second loan spell at a different club seems best for all parties.
- Cortes started just once in La Liga 2 for Sporting Gijon
- He failed to register a goal or an assist
- Cortes racked up just 354 minutes of football in all competitions
According to Spanish outlet La Nueva Espana, Cortes said goodbye to his teammates at Sporting Gijon on Wednesday ahead of flying to Buenos Aires in Argentina, where he will finalise paperwork to sign for Huracan.
The winger is said to have become surplus to requirements at the Spanish side, and the decision now just awaits official club announcements.
Huracan are likely to have a buy option included in the agreed loan deal with Rangers.
It also seems like the Bears and Huracan have found loopholes in FIFA’s regulations that allow Cortes to play for a third club this campaign.
How much could Rangers lose in Cortes sale?
While nothing is complete until everything is signed off, Cortes can be thought of as a Huracan player.
There are suggestions that the loan deal may include a buy option, but considering how the 22-year-old is now out of form, the Bears may lose money on the winger in just under a year.
Rangers signed Cortes for a reported fee of £4million when activating the buy clause in his loan stay from Lens this summer.
Transfermarkt now have Cortes’ valued at £1.75million, which could see the Bears lose over £2million with a potential permanent exit on the cards for the winger in a couple of months.
