Chris Sutton gushes over Connor Barron after what he did in Rangers vs Aberdeen

Connor Barron left Chris Sutton stunned with his showing in Rangers’ 2-0 victory over Aberdeen.

Emmanuel Fernandez and Nicolas Raskin headed home from first-half corners for Rangers, and Barron played a crucial part in those goals.

The result puts pressure on league leaders Hearts, and takes Danny Rohl‘s above Sutton’s beloved Celtic for the time being.

Sutton could not help but praise Barron after his exploits at Ibrox on 6 January.

What did Chris Sutton say about Connor Barron?

Barron was responsible for the deliveries that gave Rangers victory, and he put in an immense performance against his former club.

The ex-Celtic star could not contain himself when it came to Barron’s display in the contest, and he believes that the ex-Dons star is vital.

Speaking on Sky Sports on 6 December (22:12 pm), he said: “He was integral tonight, Connor Barron, I think he has got a really good football brain, it sinks together really well.”

Why Rangers need Barron to step up in title race

Barron will be crucial for the Gers’ hopes of winning the title.

Rohl’s side have often been accused of lacking in the midfield area, but if the 23-year-old continues to play as he did against the Pittodrie outfit, that criticism will not apply anymore.

As well as his two assists, from two perfectly delivered set-pieces, he created seven chances for his teammates, per Sofascore.

His influence was clear, as he took 84 touches and made six passes into the final third and recorded three shots, on a brilliant night against his old team.

Defensively, he really stepped up to the plate, with five recoveries and winning seven out of 12 ground duels, for a 58 per cent success rate against the Dons.

With Barron and Raskin playing at this level, the Light Blues have every chance of lifting the trophy in May, but they need the Scotsman and the Belgian to keep it up.

Sutton is right, Barron may well be integral to the Gers, especially when it comes to their chances of taking the domestic crown.

He has really matured under Rohl, and it will not be a surprise if he becomes a key member of the squad as the season goes on.
