Rangers ace Djeidi Gassama sends message as Fenerbahce complete transfer
Djeidi Gassama’s Rangers fate will be confirmed in the coming weeks.
Rangers signed Gassama from Sheffield Wednesday in the summer, which initially looked to be a steal.
The Frenchman has shown flashes of brilliance since arriving at Ibrox, but his consistency has faded in recent months, especially since Danny Rohl‘s arrival.
Villarreal are said to be interested in Gassama, as Rohl may be tempted to cash in on the forward this month.
With the January window now open, the Rangers star has reacted to the latest news regarding one of his former Sheffield Wednesday team-mates switching clubs.
Djeidi Gassama reacts to Anthony Musaba’s transfer
Gassama’s performances have been declining, but Rohl’s faith in the winger finally paid off recently.
After 10 matches without an attacking return, the forward grabbed an assist in Rangers’ massive 3-1 win over Celtic on Saturday.
Djeidi Gassama’s Scottish Premiership record with Rangers:
- Games – 20
- Goals – 1
- Assists – 2
There were high hopes for Gassama when Rohl arrived, with many believing that the German head coach could get the best out of the 22-year-old due to their time together at Sheffield Wednesday.
Gassama clearly remembers his time with the Owls fondly and has reacted to his former team-mate, Anthony Musaba, joining Fenerbahce from Turkish side Samsunspor.
He commented on Musaba’s Instagram post with three fire emojis, indicating his delight at his friend’s progression in football.
Musaba left Sheffield Wednesday this summer, just as Rohl and Gassama did, but he seems to be outshining his former team-mate.
Rangers may have signed the wrong Sheffield Wednesday star
Gers fans will be hoping that the assist against Celtic will spark improved displays from Gassama, especially with other clubs said to be monitoring the wide man.
There was a transfer fee of £4.4million suggested when rumours on Villarreal’s interest in Gassama broke, and if he was to leave Ibrox this month, the Bears would make a tidy profit.
Musaba would have been available to Rangers on a cut-price deal, just like Gassama, yet he has the same number of goal contributions as the Gers man despite playing 12 matches less this campaign.
The Dutchman has shown a consistent goal-scoring threat over the first half of the season for Samsunspor, which earned him a move to Turkish giants, Fenerbahce.
Another poor Kevin Thelwell decision highlighted, as a £4.4m sale seems an absolute no-brainer right now.
