Keith Jackson in remarkable Rangers admission as three transfers needed
Rangers look to have the best chance of competing with Hearts in the William Hill Premiership after beating Celtic on Saturday.
Danny Rohl got the better of Wilfried Nancy at Parkhead on 3 January, with calls for the French manager’s sacking at the Hoops growing louder.
While the clouds over Govan are clearing, it seems like the other side of Glasgow may have to go through further turmoil for the remainder of the season.
Rohl is confident of winning the league title at Ibrox, and the German manager has every right to feel that way.
Rangers should back Danny Rohl with quality signings
Keith Jackson wants to see the Gers sign players who can step straight into Rohl’s starting lineup.
The Daily Record journalist is amazed that the Light Blues now look “best equipped” to compete with Hearts in the William Hill Premiership, but the Ibrox hierarchy have been told to sign at least three quality players.
As things stand, the Old Firm rivals are level on points, six points behind Derek McInnes’ league leaders, but the side from Govan seems to have all the momentum.
Writing in the Daily Record on 5 January, Jackson said, “Remarkably, the Ibrox men do now look best equipped to stay in touch with Hearts at the top of the table.”
The journalist added, “But Rohl will need heavy backing in the transfer window if he is to turn this team into a credible, potentially title-winning force. The German needs at least three new starters before the end of the month.”
Andrew Cavenagh has decided to back Rohl in January, and exciting times could possibly be ahead for fans in G51.
Danny Rohl and Ibrox hierarchy agree on transfer priority, it may be wrong
Rohl has made signing a new number six a major priority at Ibrox, and it remains to be seen who the Gers end up signing.
While Nicolas Raskin may soon leave, with the Belgium international surely expected to take the next step, he should be part of the team at least until the end of the season.
| Player | Appearances | Goals |
| James Tavernier | 20 | 4 |
| Youssef Chermiti | 14 | 4 |
| Thelo Aasgaard | 17 | 3 |
| Bojan Miovski | 15 | 3 |
| Mikey Moore | 15 | 3 |
| Emmanuel Fernandez | 11 | 3 |
The Light Blues undoubtedly need a long-term successor for Raskin, but the short-term fix to Rohl’s issues this season is surely improving his goalscoring options.
Youssef Chermiti and Bojan Miovski have shown glimpses of their talent in recent weeks, but the Glaswegian outfit evidently need a reliable number nine to take them to the next level.
