Rangers player leaves BBC Sportsound baffled after incident vs St Mirren
Rangers failed to be ruthless as Nicolas Raskin missed a sitter against St Mirren in the William Hill Premiership on Tuesday.
Ibrox hosts Stephen Robinson’s team on 30 December, with John Souttar returning to the starting lineup after spending a period on the sidelines due to injury.
Dujon Sterling has been pivotal under Danny Rohl in recent matches, but the Englishman hasn’t even made the bench against the Saints.
In the 24th minute, Djeidi Gassama ran down the wings and put the ball on the plate for Raskin, who failed to hit the target.

Nicolas Raskin should’ve done better in Rangers vs St Mirren
Raskin had the goal at his mercy against St Mirren, Steven Thomson says.
The former Gers ace couldn’t believe the Belgium international failing to convert his opportunity at Ibrox.
With the Saints having their moments in the game, the 24-year-old will hope his missed opportunity doesn’t come back to bite the Glaswegian outfit, but Thelo Aasgaard made sure Rohl’s team went into the break with a lead after his header in the 38th minute.
Speaking on BBC Sportsound on 30 December, Thomson said, “It’s an absolute sitter. You’ve got to be honest. Brilliant work from Chermiti initially, and then Gassama goes to the byline, cuts it back to the six-yard line. It’s a simple tap into the bottom corner of the goal, and he puts it about a foot past. Probably trying to be too precise. The goal was at his mercy. Must hit the target there.”
Rohl returned to winning ways against Motherwell, but the performance in the 1-0 victory didn’t fill many supporters with much confidence.
The German manager has opted for a much more attacking lineup this time around, with Mohamed Diomande and Thelo Aasgaard playing high up the pitch alongside Sjeidi Gassama, Mikey Moore and Youssef Chermiti.
Danny Rohl has obvious half-time change to make at Ibrox
Youssef Chermiti’s struggles at Ibrox have been well documented, and he’s continuing his underwhelming form against St Mirren.
The Rangers striker’s link-up play in the opening 45 minutes wasn’t good enough, and Danilo is arguably better suited to the current situation.
| Competition | Appearances | Goals | Assists |
| William Hill Premiership | 12 | 2 | 1 |
It has been evident that the Brazilian striker is arguably the better finisher compared to the former Everton ace, and he may be able to provide much more threat in the final third after the break.
Rohl has an obvious substitution to make, but it remains to be seen whether the German manager will be proactive.
