Findlay Curtis’ next club could be this EFL side with Rangers loan exit on the cards
Rangers look set to sanction a January loan exit for winger Findlay Curtis.
Danny Rohl is confident Curtis will come good for Rangers in the future, but patience may be required with the 19-year-old.
Rangers are expected to be busy in January, as the club’s 49ers’ ownership attempt to enjoy a much-improved second transfer window at Ibrox after a disappointing summer of spending.
Deals for Kieron Bowie or Alfredo Morelos would make headlines at Rangers in the New Year, but it’s not always about the big-name incomings, with the futures of some talented youngsters also needing significant attention.

Findlay Curtis can find ideal loan move with Barrow
Rangers are reportedly willing to let Curtis leave on loan when the winter sales begin, as they look to handle the young wingers’ development with the upmost care.
As reported by the Rangers Review, however, this may only be the case if Rohl can sign the versatile forward that he’s looking for, as otherwise he may still be required at Ibrox.
The Scotland youth international made his first five senior appearances for Rangers last season, and has moved even closer to first-team stardom in 2025-26.
However, with quality summer signing Djeidi Gassama making the left-wing spot his own, the pathway to regular minutes at Ibrox is a rough and winding one for Curtis at this moment in time.
Therefore, a short-term loan switch for the second half of the season seems a pragmatic one, and English League Two side Barrow could be an ideal landing spot for him.
Based in Cumbria, the Bluebirds are relatively close to the Scottish border, and so Rangers scouts would be able to keep a close eye on him if they so choose.
Not only that, Barrow also have one of the worst attacking records in League Two, having scored just 25 goals in 23 league games this season, with an average of 1.1 goals scored per game, as per FotMob.
As such, Curtis could come in and have a great chance at carving out a key role straight away, as Barrow boss Andrew Whing attempts to ensure his team have enough firepower to stave off a relegation fight.
It could also be a very useful tactical learning experience for him, as Whing has shown himself to be flexible when it comes to his formations, deploying various back three and four combinations this season.
Rangers have enough depth to green-light Curtis exit
For a young player who evidently has the potential to be a big player for Rangers in the future, the last thing they’ll want to do is stump his progression unnecessarily.
In Gassama and Mikey Moore, as well as having both Rabbi Matondo and Oliver Antman still to return from injury, Rohl has plenty of cover in wide areas to feel safe about letting Curtis leave the club in January.
- Curtis made three Premiership appearances last season
- He registered one assist and zero goals in 78 total minutes of league football in 2024-25
- Curtis made his Rangers first-team debut on 19 January 2025 in the fourth round of the Scottish Cup against Highland Football League side Fraserburgh
So, enabling him to seek some regular minutes away from Ibrox, wherever that may be, could prove invaluable to his development, and see him return to Glasgow in the summer ready to really stake his Rangers first-team claim.
