‘This is likelihood of Rangers signing new striker before next Old Firm vs Celtic’ in transfer latest
Danny Rohl may want a new striker by the time Rangers’ next Old Firm derby comes around.
Rangers will seek revenge after losing to Celtic in November when the Hoops won 3-1 in a controversial-filled Premier Sports Cup semi-final.
The pair will meet again on 3 January for a Scottish Premiership showdown that comes with the weight of league title aspirations this time around.
Rangers’ striker situation has raised concerns over the course of the season, and supporters have voiced their frustration over the likes of Youssef Chermiti, Bojan Miovski, and Danilo.
However, following the latest update, Rangers fans have learned if Rohl will have a new striker in time for the Old Firm clash.

Rangers unlikely to have new striker straight away in January
Chermiti has come under fire for missing golden opportunities in multiple games for the Bears, but it’s not only he who has underperformed.
Danilo and Miovski both came to Ibrox for a combined fee of around £10m after add-ons, and neither has yet to convince fans.
Rangers strikers’ goal record this season (all competitions):
- Danilo: Three
- Chermiti: Two
- Miovski: Five
On Monday, John McGarry detailed in the Scottish Daily Mail’s print edition that the Gers are not expected to have a new number nine by the next time they face Celtic, but explained why it may be a good thing.
McGarry wrote: “It’s conceivable yet unlikely that a new striker will be in the building and good to go come derby day.
“As frustrating as that scenario would be, Rangers supporters would surely rather wait if it meant Rohl gets what he needs.”

The last thing that Rohl will want is for the 49ers and Andrew Cavenagh to splash their cash on another unproven forward that can’t hit the ground running.
Rangers have clawed themselves back into the title picture and may only be a top centre-forward away from doing what seemed impossible a few months ago.
Danilo concern resurfaces at Ibrox
Rangers beat Motherwell 1-0 at Ibrox on Saturday, where Chermiti started and failed to score in consecutive games.
Miovski replaced the 21-year-old from the bench in the 77th minute, but it meant Danilo didn’t get a single second on the field.
McGarry further picked out the concerns regarding Danilo’s future at Ibrox.
“Having the boo boys on his back. You dread to think how Danilo must have shown up in training last week. Despite Chermiti and Miovski sucking the life out of the supporters with their efforts in the penalty box, the Brazilian didn’t even get on the park,” McGarry wrote.
With the January transfer window just days away from opening, Rangers may have to wait for a new striker.
However, there may be no hesitation when it comes to offloading individuals, and Danilo could be one of them.
