Danny Rohl makes request to 49ers as Rangers find long-term Jack Butland replacement
Jack Butland’s future at Rangers may be in doubt, with Danny Rohl identifying his potential replacement.
Butland had a nightmare in Rangers’ defeat to Hearts, as he allowed Lawrence Shankland’s effort to squirm under him.
The English shot stopper made three saves against the Jambos, per Sofascore, but his error has been the main talking point.
The Gers will have to move on from the 32-year-old eventually, but that may be sooner rather than later after what Rohl has instructed the 49ers Enterprises and Andrew Cavenagh to do.

Rohl wants Rangers to sign Pierce Charles
Rangers reportedly tried to sign Pierce Charles in the summer, but a move away from Sheffield Wednesday did not materialise.
However, a report from Sportsboom on 27 December claims that Rohl sees the 20-year-old as the long-term successor to Butland.
The German manager has apparently personally asked recruitment staff at Ibrox to put together a file on the eight-cap international.

It states that the Owls may be forced to sell Charles due to their financial issues, as they try to repay creditors from the Dephon Chansiri era.
Would Charles be the right man to succeed Butland?
Charles is one of the most promising young stoppers in world football, and it would be a huge coup if the Gers could bring him to Scotland.
He has made 22 appearances for the Hillsborough club, conceding 34 goals in that time, which is not bad considering the predicament that they find themselves in.
He has had injury issues this campaign, so a fair comparison to the current Gers stopper would be from last season.
His passing accuracy is impressive, as he boasted a 76 per cent completion rate last season in the second tier of English football, with Butland only completing 73 per cent of his attempts in Scotland’s top-flight.
Butland made 2.8 saves per game, and committed two errors leading to a goal, while Charles made 2.5 saves per game and also made two errors that led to a goal.
The fact that the Northern Irishman has similar stats to the Bears ace, while being 12 years younger, suggests that he could improve massively if he makes the move to Govan.
The Light Blues have already picked up Djeidi Gassama from the troubled Championship club, and they could repeat the trick with the goalkeeper.
