Mikey Moore drops Rangers revelation as Tottenham talent ‘understands’ at Ibrox

Mikey Moore has lifted the lid on his Rangers connections.

Rangers are still reeling from their 2-1 loss to Hearts last time out, which was an afternoon at Tynecastle that saw the Gers’ title hopes take a hammer blow.

Danny Rohl’s side will be itching to get back to winning ways when Motherwell visit Ibrox on Saturday in the Scottish Premiership.

Rangers are expected to be busy in the January transfer window, with several summer signings still waiting to make a big impact.

Mikey Moore makes Rangers family admission

One of those additions who is starting to grow into a key Rangers role is Tottenham loanee, Moore.

The versatile 18-year-old forward endured a slow start to life at Ibrox following his summer loan switch from Spurs, where he’d already made over 20 first-team appearances for the London outfit.

However, in recent weeks, Moore has become an essential creative cog in Rangers’ side, earning high praise for his energy and spark to what has otherwise been a team severely lacking in both.

And in a new interview with The Rangers Review, the teenager has revealed just how much playing for Rangers means to him, and why he already had a connection before signing on the dotted line.

“My girlfriend’s whole family are Rangers fans,” Moore said.

“My family have always liked Rangers as a club too. I understand what it means now. I get messages off my girlfriend’s dad all the time, battering me if we lose, and if we win, he’s loving me.

“I understand what it means to be here, and I’ve had that support from people in my family.”

Moore could earn himself second Rangers deal with big second half of the season

Given how young he still is and the fact that he’s been handed a fair few senior opportunities with Tottenham so far, it may well be that Spurs will want to keep hold of him for the time being.

That was seemingly reflected in the summer, too, with Moore signing a new five-year deal back in August.

However, they’ll also want to be absolutely sure that they see a roadmap for a starting role for him in North London in the years to come, as Spurs are an ambitious club who have the financial capability to spend big to match that.

So, should Moore not receive guarantees over a first-team role with the Premier League outfit for next season, then he may well be afforded another loan opportunity next summer.

Given his familial ties to Rangers and now with experience of playing for the club under his belt, if he were to enjoy a strong second half of the season, there would surely be much mutual interest in bringing him back to Glasgow for another term.

He has time on his Tottenham side, and so Spurs would surely be happy to see him continue to develop and improve whilst playing for a huge club like Rangers.
