‘Danny Rohl to use German contacts to seal Rangers loan signing in January’
Danny Rohl will be relishing the opportunity to sign players in the January transfer window.
Rangers are miles off league leaders Hearts in the Scottish Premiership table, despite signing 14 new players over the summer.
Kevin Thelwell was sacked as the Rangers sporting director after spending over £20million on a squad that has drastically underperformed this season.
Rangers have appointed Stig Inge Bjornebye in a consultancy role ahead of the transfer window, but they are still short of boardroom staff who could aid their recruitment.
For as long as they don’t have a sporting director, journalist Mark Guidi believes Rohl will look for players much closer to home.

Rangers can make the most of Danny Rohl’s contacts in Germany
The Bears have already been linked with the likes of Josh Windass and Tuur Rommens, and they will look to bring in at least three or four players to strengthen the starting lineup.
Speaking on The Go Radio Football Show Podcast on 23 December, Guidi believes that Rohl may use his connections from his coaching days in Germany.
He said: “I think Rohl will look to tap into the German loan market. He’ll tap into his contacts there and try to get one or two players in.
‘But a lot depends on how the next three or four games shape up. If they don’t win any of them, then Rangers will be forced to put the handbrake on things.”
Rohl began coaching at RB Leipzig and Southampton under Ralph Hasenhüttl. In August 2019, he returned to Germany to work with Hansi Flick at Bayern Munich, and later as the assistant manager of the German national team.
The crop of young players in Germany is full of talent and promise, and Rangers already have a history of signing a superstar from Germany on loan in Malik Tillman.

Tillman was a success at Rangers before eventually going on to become a top player at PSV and Bayer Leverkusen.

Can Rangers replicate the brilliant loan signing of Malik Tillman?
The USA international came to Rangers as a 20-year-old star from Bayern Munich with an abundance of potential but a lack of experience.
The attacking midfielder was a handful in the box, scoring 10 goals from an xG of 3.35 in the 2022-23 Scottish Premiership season.
As a result, he moved to PSV, where he put up extraordinary numbers, before securing a £30.5m move to Bayer Leverkusen in July.

| Assists | 5 |
Rohl’s ability to identify a player who is ready to play for Rangers will be crucial in the second half of the campaign, and every player who walks through the door must come in with a different mindset.
The loan market in Germany features hungry players who are desperate to prove themselves, and it’s up to Rohl to identify which talents can be trusted.
If Rangers can land a player as gifted as Tillman, then they can still win silverware this season.
