Andy Halliday slams what he’s heard multiple pundits say about Rangers

Rangers have suffered a major blow in the William Hill Premiership title race after losing to Hearts on Sunday.

Danny Rohl suffered his first league defeat at Tynecastle Park on 21 December, with Stuart Findlay and Lawrence Shankland scoring in the Gers’ 2-1 loss.

The likes of Barry Ferguson and Chris Sutton had kept hopes of a league title at Ibrox alive after the German manager went on an eight-game unbeaten run.

After losing in Edinburgh, the Glaswegian outfit are now 12 points behind the Jam Tarts, and Rohl has a massive challenge on his hands right now.

Rangers title shouts premature under Danny Rohl

Andy Halliday can’t believe how many pundits have refused to rule out the Gers from the title race.

The former Light Blues ace doesn’t think Rohl’s team have what it takes to go all the way in the William Hill Premiership after what he’s seen from them.

A win over Hearts would’ve been a massive statement from the Glaswegian outfit, but it seems like the best they can hope for is second place in the table at Ibrox.

Speaking on Open Goal on 24 December, Halliday said: “What I will say is I can’t believe the amount of pundits I’ve listened to that have said that Rangers were in a title race. Because they couldn’t have watched them this year.”

Rohl will now be hoping to strengthen his squad at Ibrox in January, and it will be interesting to see who the Gers will target in the coming weeks.

The Light Blues are arguably in need of quality recruits in multiple areas of the pitch after Kevin Thelwell botched the summer window.

Danny Rohl to demand three transfers as priority at Ibrox

Youssef Chermiti’s future at Ibrox is uncertain, and the Glaswegian outfit should look to replace him with a reliable goalscorer sooner rather than later.

Rangers are also struggling with multiple fitness issues in their backline, and another centre-back signing has got to be on their agenda.

Jayden Meghoma can’t play the rest of the season as the only natural option at left-back, making reinforcements in that position undoubtedly necessary.

Fans in G51 are eagerly waiting to see what Andrew Cavenagh and 49ers Enterprises have in store in Govan after failing on their promise to bring success back to the Light Blues in the summer.
