Tuur Rommens transfer to Rangers spells disaster for one player at Ibrox

Rangers have already started their preparations for the winter transfer window as Westerlo defender Tuur Rommens has emerged as a target.

The 22-year-old has been a key player for the Jupiler Pro League outfit this season and is now attracting interest from the Gers.

Danny Rohl is preparing for a busy January at Ibrox, with plenty of incomings and outgoings expected at the Light Blues.

Josh Windass has recently emerged as a target from Wrexham, and the Glaswegian outfit seem to be putting plans in place to bolster their squad.

Rangers keep eye on Tuur Rommens as new defenders wanted

Rommens is on the Gers’ radar, with the nine-cap Belgium Under-21 international being tracked in Govan, according to Sky Sports.

The news outlet reports on 23 December that the Light Blues are hoping to reinforce their defence at Ibrox, as they keep their eyes on the Jupiler Pro League club’s left-back.

Jayden Meghoma has impressed under Rohl, but the Brentford loanee doesn’t have a natural backup in the squad for his position.

Max Aarons started the season at left-back, but after some underwhelming performances, the Bournemouth loanee found himself out of the starting lineup.

Meghoma is set to return to Brenford once his loan stint expires, and it would make sense for the Glaswegian outfit to put plans in place for a long-term solution like Rommens.

Max Aarons to be unwanted after Tuur Rommens transfer

Aarons has seen a resurgence in Rohl’s plans recently, but that doesn’t mean his performances have warranted a stay at the Gers.

Rangers have arguably been forced to use the Englishman as an attacking outlet due to several fitness issues in the squad.

If Rommens makes his way to Ibrox, and when the likes of John Souttar and Derek Cornelius return to full fitness, there may be no need for Aarons in the team.

A lot of fans in G51 want to see a squad overhaul in January, and it wouldn’t be surprising to see some loan deals cut short in Govan.
