Nico Raskin escapes with credit, 3/10 in horror show – Rangers player ratings vs Hearts

Rangers fell to a 2-1 defeat at Hearts on Sunday afternoon.

Rangers were looking to build on the 1-0 win over Hibernian, and headed to face the other Edinburgh side on 21 December.

However, the Tynecastle side took the lead in the 38th-minute through Stuart Findlay and extended it four minutes later when Lawrence Shankland fired home.

Danny Rohl was left disappointed as the Scottish Premiership leaders only enhanced their title credentials and the Gers faltered, with Youssef Chermiti adding a late consolation.

Nico Raskin shines despite Rangers loss

Nico Raskin has been a rare shining light for Rangers this season, and he was the only one to come away with credit after a poor afternoon for the Light Blues.

The Belgium star completed the most passes in the contest with 56, recorded two shots off target and took four touches inside the Hearts box, per Sofascore.

His attempts to create something for his team were emphasised by the fact that he completed 11 passes into the final third.

Defensively, he made four clearances, two interceptions and four recoveries, and also won six of 10 ground duels, for a 60 per cent success rate.

Unfortunately for Raskin, his efforts went without any sort of payoff, but he escaped with some credit after a brave display, in the worst of circumstances.

His teammates should look to him for example in the future.

Diomande dismal as Rangers fall to defeat

Rohl has shown that he is not afraid to be ruthless in his short stint at Ibrox so far, and he hooked Mohamed Diomande off at half-time.

The substitution was justified as the Ivorian did not justify his selection against the league leaders, in a dismal showing.

Diomande created just one chance for his teammates, and has just 20 touches in the contest, per Sofascore, as he struggled to assert his influence.

Despite having such a limited amount of time on the ball, the 24-year-old lost the ball five times, which is a daming indictment of his performance.

Defensively, he made just one tackle and two recoveries, while only winning two of the four ground duels that he attempted, for a 50 per cent success rate.

It was no surprise when he was replaced.
