Alan Brazil shocks with Rangers hope as Wilfried Nancy misery continues at Celtic

Alan Brazil hopes Rangers beat Hearts in the William Hill Premiership as Celtic continue their downward spiral.

Wilfried Nancy is under pressure at Parkhead after losing his first game in charge of the Hoops.

Celtic were beaten 2-1 by Dundee United in the league at Tannadice Park on 17 December, with the Glaswegian outfit failing to take advantage of their game-in-hand over the Gers.

Danny Rohl has reignited title hopes at Ibrox, and they face Hearts next at Tynecastle Park on 21 December as the Light Blues look to close the gap at the top of the table.

Celtic supporters have hard choice in Hearts vs Rangers

Brazil feels it would be best for Celtic supporters if the Gers beat Hearts in terms of the title race.

The Scotsman admits that it may be hard for the Hoops fans to want their Old Firm rivals to win, but that may be the best-case scenario in the William Hill Premiership.

Hearts can go 10 points clear at the top of the table if they beat Rohl’s team and Celtic continue their losing streak against Aberdeen, giving Derek McInnes the upper hand for the rest of the season.

Speaking on talkSPORT on 18 December, Brazil said: “If you’re a Celtic supporter… It’s very hard for a Celtic supporter to want Rangers to win, but maybe on this occasion, they may need Rangers to win.

Rohl is set for a tough run in the William Hill Premiership in the coming weeks, and it will be interesting to see whether they can continue their unbeaten run.

The German manager has won six and drawn two of his league games in charge, and while performances can certainly be better, the results are encouraging at Ibrox.

Wilfried Nancy to outdo one Ibrox embarrassment

Nancy has been compared to Russell Martin, with his post-match comments at Celtic reminiscent of the former Southampton boss, who refused to take accountability.

The ex-Rangers manager lasted just 123 days in Govan after leading the Gers to their worst league start since 1978.

As things stand, it looks like Nancy may not be able to last a month at Parkhead, considering the Hoops’ recent form.

Hearts have a chance to end the 40-year duopoly in Scottish football, but the Light Blues shouldn’t be counted out just yet.
