Rangers told how many points they need to win Scottish Premiership title – ‘They’re right in the hunt’

Rangers could be back in the Scottish Premiership title race and may require a remarkably low points tally to win the league.

The Gers have been reformed since Danny Rohl took over from Russell Martin back in October, and the feel-good factor is returning around Ibrox.

Rangers beat Hibernian 1-0 on Monday night, with Emmanuel Fernandez scoring a first-half winner in a nervy affair at Ibrox.

Despite the poor performance, the Glasgow outfit have now won six out of eight Scottish Premiership games under Rohl and are yet to taste defeat in the league.

Rangers have a massive opportunity in Scottish Premiership

Across each of the past five seasons, the Scottish Premiership winners have amassed well over 90 points to claim the title.

In fact, when Rangers last lifted the trophy, back in the 2020-21 campaign under Steven Gerrard, they picked up a massive 102 points.

However, speaking on the Go Radio Football Show, Scottish football journalist Mark Guidi claimed that Rohl’s side may only need to get just over 80 points to win the title this season

Guidi said: “It could be as low as 81, 82 points. I mean normally you need a minimum of 90 to be champion.

“They (Rangers) are right in the hunt. So if Rangers win on Sunday at Tynecastle, it really blows it wide open. If Hearts win, that is Rangers gone.”

Rangers could face problems against Hearts

In the Scottish Premiership, Rohl has had an easy ride at Rangers so far, with the German boss yet to face another side in the top four.

When the Gers have come up against better opposition, in the Europa League and Premier Sports Cup, they have really struggled.

Rangers have lost three out of their four games in Europe under Rohl, being beaten by Ferencvaros, Roma, and Brann, as well as falling to defeat against Celtic in the Premier Sports Cup semi-final.

It doesn’t bode well for a trip to table-topping Hearts, who have only been defeated once in the Scottish Premiership this season.

Despite the statistics being against them, Rohl’s side will hope they can raise their game against a higher-quality side and fire themselves right back into the title race with a win.
