Rangers already have eyes on first January signing after Stig Inge Bjornebye appointment

Rangers have appointed former Norway international Stig Inge Bjornebye in a consultancy role ahead of the winter transfer window.

The 56-year-old has arrived at the Gers on an initial six-month contract and will begin work this week.

Kevin Thelwell was recently sacked at Ibrox, and the Light Blues have since been searching for a new sporting director.

Andre Cavenagh is expected to back Rohl in January, and Bjornebye’s addition to the football leadership team may hint at the Glaswegian outfit’s next signing.

Stig Inge Bjornebye to use Norway connections for Jens Hjerto-Dahl transfer at Rangers

Bjornebye is expected to work in an advisory capacity and report to Cavenagh, according to Sky Sports News.

The news outlet reports on 17 December that the former Norway international will have a say in recruitment at Ibrox.

It’s been claimed that Rohl, Bjornebye and the other members of the staff will work together to plan for potential new signings at the Light Blues, but the final decision rests with Cavenagh and Paraag Marathe.

Tromso midfielder Jens Hjerto-Dahl has been linked with a move to Ibrox, and the former Rosenborg sporting director may be able to use his connections to sign the Norway Under-21 international soon.

The Glaswegian outfit are reportedly looking for a new number six, and the 20-year-old, 6’4″ midfielder could potentially be the perfect option for them.

Who is Jens Hjerto-Dahl?

It isn’t surprising to see Hjerto-Dahl attract interest from Rangers, with the youngster considered one of the most promising prospects in Eliteserien.

The Gers may need to pay over the odds for the Norwegian star, who has been nominated for Young Player of the Year in the league.

Hjerto-Dahl is an imposing figure in the middle of the park with good passing range, something that Rohl will certainly value in Govan.

It seems like the Glaswegian outfit are gearing up to at least test the waters for Hjerto-Dahl after getting Bjornebye.
