Andy Halliday predicts ‘most Rangers thing ever’ to happen in new title verdict

Rangers risk losing the initiative in the William Hill Premiership by dropping points in the upcoming matches.

Danny Rohl’s team will face Hearts next on 21 December at Tynecastle Park, in what could potentially be a significant result in the title race.

Derek McInnes will surely be keeping an eye on the progress at Ibrox, with the former Sheffield Wednesday boss going eight games unbeaten in the league.

If the Glaswegian outfit beat the Jam Tarts, they will go within six points of the league leaders, with a game in hand.

Rangers slip up on cards as Hearts favourites in William Hill Premiership

Andy Halliday expects the Gers to be their own worst enemies as they gun for the title.

The Scotsman doesn’t think the Light Blues can overtake Celtic in third place, let alone compete with Hearts, due to their inconsistencies.

It seems like the stars are aligning for the Jam Tarts to end the 40-year duopoly of the Old Firm rivals in Scotland, as McInnes looks to make history.

Speaking on Open Goal on 16 December, when asked whether the Gers can catch Celtic, Halliday said: “I think it’s the most Rangers thing ever, they’ll end up dropping points. Honestly. I think Hearts will win the league.”

Wilfried Nancy has surely opened the door for Rohl to take advantage of the crisis at Parkhead, with the former Columbus Crew boss losing his first three games in charge of the Hoops.

If the German manager does end up pushing Hearts close until the end of the season after Russell Martin’s start in G51, it will go down as one of the biggest comebacks in history.

Danny Rohl can take upper hand with one small factor at Ibrox

Stig Inge Bjornebye has been appointed at Ibrox on a consultancy basis, with the former Norway international taking a part in planning for the winter transfer window.

It seems like Hearts, Celtic and Rangers could do with reinforcements in January, and whoever gets their recruitment right may have an upper hand in the title race.

Rohl has already shown he’s capable of building a team that’s hard to beat domestically, and a few quality additions to the squad may further solidify their standings in the league table.

Andrew Cavenagh has shown a willingness to spend in Govan, and reinforcements at Ibrox could potentially be key to competing with the Jam Tarts this season.
