Rangers line up Nicolas Raskin replacement as contact made for new midfielder at Ibrox
Rangers have made inquiries to sign Pau midfielder Daylam Meddah ahead of the winter transfer window.
The Gers are looking to rebuild their squad after poor recruitment from Kevin Thelwell in the summer, and it looks like the hierarchy in G51 is already putting plans in place for January.
Raskin has been linked with an exit from Ibrox, with Besiktas creating a plan to entice the Belgium international.
Danny Rohl has also relied on Connor Barron in recent weeks, with the likes of Joe Rothwell, Mohamed Diomande and Lyall Cameron also at his disposal, but midfield reinforcements will surely be needed sooner rather than later.

Daylam Meddah in demand amid Rangers interest
Monza have joined the Gers in the race for Meddah after his meteoric rise at Pau, according to Foot Mercato.
The news outlet reports on 12 December that the Frenchman is attracting significant interest just weeks before the transfer window reopens.
In the current campaign, the defensive-midfielder has made 15 league appearances for the Ligue 2 outfit, scoring one goal and providing five assists.
Meddah’s current contract at the French club expires in 2027, and it will be interesting to see how much he will cost if the Glaswegian outfit do make a bid.
Raskin’s current contract at Ibrox runs until 2028, and it wouldn’t make sense for the Light Blues to hold off on his sale at least until the end of the season, but the search for his successor should be on the agenda in G51.
Nicolas Raskin and Daylam Meddah compared: The perfect option at Ibrox?
Raskin will surely bank a hefty profit at Ibrox with his sale whenever it happens, with the 24-year-old emerging as a key player on the international stage.
With the Rangers midfielder possibly on his way out soon, Meddah may be the perfect replacement for him, with comparable league statistics this season.
| Daylam Meddah | Statistics | Nicolas Raskin |
| 15 | League matches | 13 |
| 6.3 (87.2%) | Long balls | 2.5 (57.9%) |
| 0.7 | Interceptions | 0.7 |
| 1.7 | Tackles | 2 |
| 2.3 | Clearances | 1.7 |
| 0.5 (58.3%) | Successful dribbles | 0.6 (42.1%) |
| 3.9 (56.9%) | Ground duels won | 4.4 (52.3%) |
| 2.1 (64.6%) | Aerial duels won | 1.8 (59%) |
| 5.3 | Possession lost | 11.8 |
Both Raskin and the Pau star have averaged 0.7 interceptions in the current campaign, with the French ace better in terms of clearances, as per Sofascore.
The Gers superstar’s per-game statistics, such as successful dribbles and ground duels won in the William Hill Premiership, are similar to Meddah’s in Ligue 2, with the Frenchman boasting better numbers in aerial duels won and losing possession less often than the Belgium international.
The statistics are clearly encouraging, but it remains to be seen whether the Glaswegian outfit will make a move for the defensive-midfielder at Ibrox.
