Rangers transfer plans may alter drastically after ‘serious’ Danny Rohl admission

Nedim Bajrami’s injury appears to be worse than feared at Rangers.

Rangers secured a 3-0 win over Kilmarnock last time out, with Bojan Miovski scoring a brace to get his confidence in Scottish football again.

After a nearly month-long absence, Mikey Moore made his return from injury and marked it with a goal in the 81st minute.

However, the Light Blues suffered a new injury scare in the form of Bajrami, and it could have a big impact on their plans for January.

Danny Rohl shares Bajrami verdict

Bajrami has struggled for form at times this season, but the Albanian international has still featured nine times in the Scottish Premiership and made a further five appearances in other competitions.

In that period, the 26-year-old has managed just two goals.

However, Bajrami was forced off early for Rangers in their win over Kilmarnock, with Findlay Curtis the man who replaced him.

At the time, it seemed like somewhat of an innocuous injury, but the latest comments from Rohl suggest otherwise, and it may impact their thinking ahead of the January transfer window.

As quoted by The National, Rohl said: “Nedim looks not so good. It’s hard. We thought after the game, it’s maybe not so serious, but at the moment it looks more serious.”

The Gers boss suggested that they will take it on a week-by-week basis, which suggests Bajrami could be out for a lot longer than anticipated.

Rangers have clear transfer priority now

Bajrami’s injury now leaves Rangers with just three wingers, one of them being 19-year-old Curtis, and another being 18-year-old Moore.

Djeidi Gassama has shown plenty of promise at Rangers, but having him as the only real senior winger at Ibrox will be an issue.

Gassama’s stats this season

Oliver Antman is not expected back until late January, meaning Bajrami’s latest blow could force the Gers into signing more cover for the wide areas.

The Light Blues may well have already had transfer plans in place, but this injury scare will almost certainly cause them to shift focus.
