Rangers could hit jackpot with risk-taker hire as Antony example raised
Real Betis sporting director Manu Fajardo may be the right man to revolutionise the recruitment department at Rangers.
Fajardo has been linked with a move to Ibrox, with him identified as a potential replacement for Kevin Thelwell, who was sacked at the end of November.
The 40-year-old Spanish chief has spent around two years as the LaLiga outfit’s sporting director, and has since become a popular figure at the Estadio Benito Villamarin.
Andrew Cavenagh may have some convincing to do to get Fajardo, and he surely has shown incredible judgment at Los Verdiblancos that will undoubtedly come in handy at the Glaswegian outfit.

Manu Fajardo future can change amid Rangers interest
Fajardo’s future seems to be set at Betis, but that could potentially change quickly, Joe Brennan says.
The AS journalist has revealed the Spanish sporting director is a popular figure at the LaLiga outfit and has recently doubled down on his commitment at the Andalusian club.
With Fajardo and Manuel Pellegrini working together at the Estadio Benito Villamarin, things are looking good for Los Verdiblancos.
Speaking exclusively to Ibrox News, Brennan said: “Fajardo seems to be a popular character at Betis, despite only being in the role for two seasons. They’ve signed well over the past few seasons and are playing lovely football under Pellegrini, who has a lot of fun inside players at his disposal.”

The journalist added: “There has been a lot of speculation over his future at Betis and at the moment, that’s where it appears to remain, with Fajardo himself recently saying he’s focused on Betis. Of course, things can change quickly.”
Thelwell and Patrick Stewart were rightly shown the door, but it remains to be seen who will fill their vacancies in Govan.

Antony transfer an example of what Manu Fajardo could bring to Ibrox
Thelwell took his own risks at Ibrox with the signing of Youssef Chermiti, but sadly for him, the Portuguese youngster hasn’t been able to live up to expectations.
Fajardo’s judgement in terms of recruitment is arguably much better, with Brennan saying: “Antony is the standout of the recent signings at the club, as he has been excellent. The risks were huge given his performances at Manchester United, but Fajardo took the risk, along with the manager, and brought him in. He’s revolutionised the attack and taken them to the next level.“
He continued: “Sofyan Amrabat is another example of a solid signing, as is Rodrigo Riquelme from Atletico Madrid and Cucho Hernandez from Columbus Crew. Not every signing has worked out, for example, Vitor Roque, but he’s definitely got a lot of credit in the bank.”
Antony has been influential at Betis after his struggles at Man United, but only time will tell whether Fajardo will soon be making decisions at Ibrox as the new recruitment guru.
