Danny Rohl should immediately cancel Rangers star’s contract after what he did vs Ferencvaros

Rangers visited Ferencvaros in the Europa League, and one player produced a shocking display in Budapest.

The Gers entered the clash with just one point from five games, with Danny Rohl unable to transform their fortunes after being appointed boss at the end of October.

But when Bojan Miovski’s stunning overhead kick hit the back of the net in the 27th minute, there was optimism that their fortunes were changing in the competition.

Sadly, Rangers were dealt a sucker punch before half-time when Bence Otvos equalised in the last minute of stoppage time before Barnabas Varga scored a winner with 18 minutes left.

Djeidi Gassama was poor for Rangers vs Ferencvaros

When Rangers signed Djeidi Gassama on a permanent deal from Sheffield Wednesday in the summer, supporters were excited about the 22-year-old winger.

However, the Frenchman has produced inconsistent performances, only serving up three goal involvements in 15 Scottish Premiership appearances in 2025/26.

Gassama’s performances haven’t been much better in the Europa League, either, and he was disappointing against Ferencvaros.

Not only did he lose his man in the build-up to their first goal, but he was ineffective in attack, completing just eight passes and zero dribbles.

Djeidi Gassama’s stats vs Ferencvaros
59 minutes played
0 shots
8/9 accurate passes (89%)
0 dribbles
2 fouls drawn
3x possession lost

Rangers ended up losing 2-1 against Ferencvaros to effectively end their chance of making the Europa League play-off round, while Gassama was subbed in the 59th minute for Mikey Moore.

The young winger showed visible frustration after being taken off, but he could have no complaints as he’s been shocking for months.

Villarreal want Gassama transfer

Ahead of their trip to Hungary, it was revealed that Villarreal are interested in Gassama, and he fits the type of profile of winger they want.

Whilst Gassama has a potential future at Ibrox, Rohl could sanction his exit in January after watching him struggle out wide.

The former Wednesday man has annoyed supporters with his poor quality in the final third, but more worryingly, his lack of effort.

As much as he’s a young player, below below-par attitude doesn’t cut it at a club like Rangers, and he must improve, or he could be sold.
