Besiktas develop plan to convince Nico Raskin of Rangers departure in January
Besiktas are chasing after Nico Raskin ahead of the January transfer window, and plans on luring the Rangers midfielder to Turkey with a higher salary.
Raskin has long been linked with a move away from Ibrox, and now, rumours are starting to reignite about his future.
The Belgium international is once again a star player under Danny Rohl after previously spending time on the bench in Russell Martin’s short reign.
However, a departure this January looks ever more likely, with Besiktas aiming to sign Raskin.

Besiktas aiming to lure Nico Raskin with high salary package
Rangers reportedly want £15million for Raskin in January if they are to depart with their star midfielder.
While it remains to be seen if Besiktas are willing to meet this price tag, they have now developed a strategy on how they plan to secure Raskin’s signature.
- Raskin signed for Raskin in 2023
- He has since gone on to be a star player at Ibrox
- With his contract up in 2027, he has been linked with various moves away
According to Sporx on 11 December, the Turkish side are planning on offering a high salary to convince the Belgian international to move to the club.
On top of this, Rangers are also open to a loan deal with a mandatory purchase option, which could work in Besiktas’ favour.
Raskin: I am happy at Rangers
Despite the recent talk of a departure, Raskin has continued to claim that he is happy at Ibrox.
The midfielder has been a key player under Rohl, and has started every game since his appointment.
In fact, Raskin has been excellent in recent weeks at Ibrox and has helped Rangers push back up the Scottish Premiership table.
When interviewed by BBC Sport on 26 November, the midfielder covered a range of topics, and when asked about his future, he confirmed that he was happy at Ibrox.
“I’m very happy here,” he explained. “We’ve got a new manager, we’re trying to build something good. I’m not deciding anything. I’m just waiting for anyone to come and talk to me, trying to give my best for the club.
“If I have to leave, I want everybody to be happy and to leave in a good way. It doesn’t depend on me right now. There’s nothing on my side thinking I’m going to leave for free or anything. I don’t want that, to be honest.
“The club has given me a lot, helped me to go to the national team and helped me to show myself on a good stage. So, if I can give back everything, I’ll try to give back.”
