Rangers fans will love what Sam Allardyce said about the Wilfried Nancy appointment at Celtic – ‘It’s stupid’

Rangers will have one eye on Celtic as Wilfried Nancy begins to come under early pressure.

Nancy has become the new Celtic manager as a new head coach was finally picked up at Parkhead after Brendan Rodgers’ dramatic exit.

Mixed reviews have followed Nancy after his start to life at Celtic, especially after coming in to replace Martin O’Neill after a positive stint as interim.

O’Neill was well-respected at Celtic in temporary charge, but was ultimately moved on at the end of a positive run of Scottish Premiership form.

The Ibrox faithful will be looking at Nancy and waiting to see what he can do at Celtic Park, but it is fair to say that the Frenchman has work to do to win Sam Allardyce around.

Danny Rohl joined Rangers earlier in the season as the Gers eventually found a new head coach after weeks of trying.

The German has shown some positive signs in G51, but has struggled to truly get a positive tune out of his side in recent weeks.

Rangers are largely accepting of Rohl and understand that time is needed for the ex-Sheffield Wednesday boss to turn things around in Govan.

It is unclear whether Nancy will be given that time at Celtic, especially after falling to defeat against league title rivals Hearts in his opening game.

The new head coach suggested that he was bothered more by the performance, rather than winning or losing, something which won’t sit well with supporters if he continues to lose matches.

That has left Allardyce fuming on the No Tippy Tappy Football as he showed his true feelings towards the Parkhead appointment.

He said: “He sounds like a school teacher, he probably is a school teacher. My god. What have they done, Celtic? Only time will tell, I suppose.

They talk about ‘Sophisticated coaching’, is coaching sophisticated? It’s not really, is it? Is he one of these managers, the new boys, that come with a great big glowing presentation?

If the owners of the football club don’t look further than the laptop, they’re so out of order, I’ve nearly said something stronger than that, but I won’t. It’s stupid. If you don’t look beyond the laptop, it’s stupid.

Rangers fans will love what Nancy said after Celtic defeat

Rangers and Celtic managers are under huge amounts of pressure the second they fail to win a Scottish Premiership game.

The Old Firm clubs should have the resources and quality to stand above the other 10 teams in the division and fight between themselves for glory.

Hearts are looking to disrupt that this season and certainly did that in Nancy’s first game, but for him to say that the performance is all that matters makes no sense.

If the Frenchman continues to lose matches with the Hoops, regardless of how his side are on the eye, he will face the sack speedily.

The Light Blues faithful won’t care about that and will likely hope the new Celtic boss continues with these sorts of comments.
