Danny Rohl shares ‘not ideal’ Rangers injury update as player unable to travel

Danny Rohl has provided a team news update ahead of Rangers’ Europa League clash with Ferencvaros on Thursday evening.

Rangers are underdogs against Ferencvaros, having so far collected just one point from five matches in the competition to sit 33rd in the table.

Rohl’s Rangers drew 1-1 with Braga last time out in Europe and will now be looking for their first win when they make the trip to Groupama Arena in Budapest.

Rohl spoke to reporters on Wednesday evening to preview the clash, including an update on those who will not be available.

Nedim Bajrami ruled out of Ferencvaros clash

Rangers have only met Ferencvaros once before and have good memories of that contest back in 1960-61.

For this latest trip to Budapest, Rohl has a couple of important Rangers selection calls to make, not least with Mohamed Diomande suspended.

Rohl has now confirmed to reporters that Nedim Bajrami did not travel to Hungary due to a muscle injury sustained against Kilmarnock at the weekend.

The German added that he hopes Bajrami “is not out for too long”, but further updates will be required first.

Rohl said Rangers “have a few more injuries, which is not ideal,” but he did not go into further details.

Danny Rohl to be worried by Ferencvaros home stat

Ferencvaros may not be a European force, but they are sixth in the current standings and will therefore be strong favourites on Thursday.

The Hungarian side have won five of their past six home Europa League matches, drawing the other in that sequence, which is as many as they managed in their previous 23 major home European matches.

Rangers’ predicted XI vs Ferencvaros

Former Celtic striker Robbie Keane is in charge of Ferencvaros and is earning rave reviews, but Rangers fans will love nothing more than denting his side’s hopes of progression to the knockouts.

Even with a few players absent, Rangers should still be targeting at least a point from this game. Advancing is out of the question, but pride is still very much on the line.
