Ferencvaros vs Rangers postponement latest as new weather warning issued

Rangers return to Europa League action against Ferencvaros on Thursday evening.

Danny Rohl has not enjoyed a successful start on the continent, with Rangers enduring a rare horror year in the competition so far.

Rangers most recently drew 1-1 against Braga, following defeats against the likes of Genk, SK Brann and AS Roma in a season to forget.

Rangers travel to Budapest to take on Ferencvaros on 11 December, with all three points needed.

What weather warning has been issued in Hungary?

Ferencvaros play at the Groupama Arena, in the south-east district of Budapest.

Rangers fans expecting a lovely trip may be mistaken, though, with weather warnings now issued for the Hungarian capital ahead of the game.

The Hungarian Meteorological Service has shared a yellow warning for fog, starting late on Tuesday and lasting all day on Wednesday.

While the warning will be gone by 11 December in time for Rangers to arrive, there is the possibility that airports are closed during those days before, which could create a logistical nightmare for fans.

Despite that, no postponement is expected.

Ferencvaros and Rangers’ records in the Europa League

With Celtic struggling under Wilfried Nancy already, they will be looking for ex-striker Robbie Keane, who manages Ferencvaros, to hit Rangers hard.

The Hungarian champions, seven times on the bounce, have started well in Europe, and currently sit sixth, only one point behind leaders Lyon.

Compare that to Rangers, via Sofascore, and you need to look away, with a terrible goals scored record and zero clean sheets in the competition.

The Bears remain in 33rd and are five points behind Basel in 24th, the last play-off spot available to get into those knockout rounds.

Realistically, qualification isn’t going to happen this year after another decent run last season, but picking up three points would ensure they don’t have the chance of going winless in the competition.

With fog and potentially worse weather expected in Budapest, anything could happen for Rangers.
