Exclusive: Scottish FA told to impose Ibrox sanction after latest announcement – ‘Rangers need help’

Rangers are once again in hot water with the Scottish FA and SPFL.

After Rangers fans used pyrotechnics against Kilmarnock, an 11-year-old boy was left with facial injuries, with grim scenes unfolding at Rugby Park.

Despite many expecting the Scottish FA to fine Rangers, a 50-ticket away sanction has been announced as the likely punishment as things stand.

Rangers have been told they need help, with Danny Rohl focusing solely on the pitch for now.

Rangers to seek help with Ibrox sanction posed

Keith Hackett has insisted that Rangers must hold further talks with the Scottish FA and security agencies, as they try to stop this ongoing issue.

Speaking exclusively to Ibrox News, the ex-FIFA official admitted that a 50-ticket sanction won’t change much, with 500 being held back more appropriate for home and away games.

“This is a real dilemma for Rangers, who are under pressure to resolve this issue with regard to the behaviour of their fans,” Hackett said.

“The question is what impact will be achieved by the withdrawal of 50 tickets to an away game. I suspect that at this time of year, around Christmas, very little.

They need help with this matter, and I am sure discussions are ongoing with the Scottish FA and various security agencies.

“It is frankly insufficient, and 500 would be more appropriate for both home and away games.”

Rangers also in hot water with UEFA

It wasn’t long ago that Rangers were fined by UEFA for crowd trouble.

Following the Champions League qualification thashing at Club Brugge, the Bears were fined £17,300 for pyrotechnics being used in the stadium.

With Premier Sports Cup semi-final tickets being reduced against Celtic last month, it is clear that the punishments are not strong enough to deter fans.

More needs to be done, and it won’t be long until sporting sanctions are placed on Rangers, who need all the help they can get right now.
