Connor Barron vindicates Danny Rohl’s faith after what he did for Rangers vs Kilmarnock
Danny Rohl’s decision to continue playing Connor Barron despite previous concerns has paid off.
Rangers beat Kilmarnock 3-0 on Saturday at Rugby Park, as Barron controlled the midfield alongside Nico Raskin in a truly dominant display.
Barron has been slammed for poor performances even since Rohl‘s arrival, but the German head coach has stuck his neck on the line for the Scot, and rightly so.
The midfielder was everywhere against Killie, and after now starting four games in a row, he looks set to play an important role for Rangers in games to come.
Barron’s stats from the match prove how good he was.
Connor Barron was magnificent vs Kilmarnock, stats prove it
Barron has been backed by many outsiders this season, but was never able to nail down a starting spot under Russell Martin, especially at the start of the campaign.
Now, the 23-year-old may have just had one of his best performances in a Gers shirt following a masterclass display against Kilmarnock on 6 December.

As highlighted by Sofascore, Barron made an impressive four tackles and was efficient when crossing the ball, also clearing one off the line from Bruce Anderson.
He rarely gave the ball away, and recorded an 88 per cent of passes completed inside his own half.

The midfielder has taken big strides of late in his Rangers career, and his progression looks to only be heading in the right direction with the help of Rohl.
Barron is evolving under Danny Rohl
It’s easy to forget that Barron is still so young, but that makes his form even more exciting.
Playing for the Bears comes with its heavy expectations, and as we’ve seen this season, players will either sink or they will float.
Barron has had a turbulent time since coming to Glasgow in 2024, but he looks to be proving himself as more effective than just your typical ball-winning midfielder.
- Barron has completed 63% of his dribbles in the Scottish Premiership this season
- He makes 1.6 tackles per game
- Barron’s now averages 0.5 key passes per game, but it’s slowly improving
Rohl has had to make use of the players in front of him, but it’s clear to see that he favours Barron, alongside Raskin and Mohamed Diomande.
The midfielder knows he has what it takes to play for the Gers, and his performances shouldn’t be allowed to go under the radar.
