Thelo Aasgaard sale on cards at Rangers after £3.5m transfer development

Rangers may need a few transfer windows to fix the mess Kevin Thelwell created before his sacking in November.

The Gers’ former sporting director was responsible for signing 12 players in the summer, nine of whom came from down south.

Thelwell undoubtedly weakened the squad at Ibrox, leading to a poor start to the 2025-26 campaign under Russell Martin.

Danny Rohl has had to rely on the likes of Youssef Chermiti and Thelo Aasgaard, but it may not be long before the German manager has had enough of them.

Rangers target Jens Hjerto-Dahl signing

Tromso midfielderJens Hjerto-Dahl has been scouted by the Gers ahead of the winter transfer window, according to The Rangers Review.

The news outlet reported on 5 December that the Light Blues are monitoring the youngster as Rohl looks set to lead the recruitment drive at Ibrox in the coming weeks.

It’s been claimed that the 20-year-old could cost around £3.5million as the Eliteserien outfit expect a bidding war to commence for the Norway Under-21 international.

Aasgaard has failed to live up to expectations at Ibrox, and it wouldn’t be surprising to see the Glaswegian outfit cut their losses on a player who cost £3.5m from Luton Town in the summer.

The attacking midfielder has shone during the recent international breaks alongside Erling Haaland, but his performances in G51 have been underwhelming.

It doesn’t look like the 23-year-old will make it in the William Hill Premiership, and it would be wise to sell him sooner rather than later.

Jens Hjerto-Dahl transfer to trigger Ibrox departures

Hjerto-Dahl is attracting concrete interest from Ibrox, and it looks like the Gers are serious about signing him.

If Rangers do sign the Norwegian youngster, it could potentially trigger a host of departures from Govan, starting with Aasgaard.

Lyall Cameron has also struggled for game time since Rohl’s appointment, making him a prime candidate to leave the Light Blues in January.

Hjerto-Dahl looks like a player with immense potential, having scored 4 goals and provided six assists in 30 league appearances this season, and he’ll surely move to Glasgow to stake a claim in the starting lineup.
